Safe tea production - the way to improve product quality and value

PTO- According to statistics, at present, the province has nearly 4,000 hectares of tea produced in a safe manner, accounting for 24.1% of total tea area, located mainly in mountainous districts such as Ha Hoa, Thanh Son, Tan Son, etc.

Thanks to local advantages, Vo Mieu commune, Thanh Son district developed tea plants with an area of nearly 320ha. Previously, people mainly sold fresh tea buds or produced black tea to traders and businesses in the area. Through many training courses, many households have linked production, established Thanh Ha safe tea cooperative, changing from traditional tea production to safe tea production with the participation of 30 members. Households in the cooperative actively invested capital to build the factory, buy modern machines and design models with specific characteristics of the region such as Van Son, Ngu Son and Dua Cao teas. Each product has different flavors and prices but the same safe production.

Besides high-quality tea varieties like LDP1, Ph8, Bat Tien ... Cooperative is experimenting with some new tea varieties such as VN15, Huong Bac Son of about 3ha for each type.

The same as Thanh Ha Cooperative, households in Phu Thinh Tea Processing Cooperative, Phu Ho commune, Phu Tho town are also making efforts, actively exchanging and sharing productive experiences in safe tea production to improve quality along with competitiveness in the market. In particular, the consciousness of people in the use of plant protection drugs has been significantly changed, thus, the value of tea plants is improved.

The use of safe tea production has contributed to improving the quality and value of products along with income sources for people. Currently, localities with advantages to develop tea plants in the province have encouraged people to change the tea area of poor quality to new varieties of high quality; actively linking production, ensuring the safety process to bring tea products to meet consumer demand.
