The 6th open Chung cake and Giay cake contest takes place

PTO- On the morning of April 23rd (lunar March 8th), at the center area of Hung Kings Temple historical relic site, the Organizing Committee of the Hung Kings Temple Festival held the opening ceremony of the sixth Chung cake and Giay cake contest.

This year's contest attraced 13 teams from localities in the province and one team of folk artisans from Thai Nguyen province.

All teams took part in two parts of the contest: Chung cake wrapping and cooking part, and Giay cake making part. Each team wrapped 10 Chung cakes from 5kg glutinous rice, 1kg green beans, 1kg pork in 10 minutes; cooking steamed glutinous rice from 5kg glutinous rice in 30 minutes; making 10 Giay cakes in 15 minutes. The finished product must met the criteria of aesthetics and quality: Chung cake should be delicious, attractive tasty; Giay cake should be flexible, smooth, white, round.

The contest is one of the significant cultural activities in the series of activities to serve the visitors attending the Hung Kings Temple Festival, aiming to pay tribute for the merits of the ancestors, expressing the good spirit "when drinking water, remember its source" of the Vietnamese people.
