The 7th Chung cake and Giay cake making contest opens

PTO - On the morning of April 12th (ie lunar March 8th), the 7th Chung cake and Giay cake making contest took place at the Hung King Temple Historical Relic site.



There were 13 teams from districts, towns and city in the province and 1 team of folk artisans from Hai Duong province participating in this year's contest. Each team made 10 Chung cakes from 5kg of glutinous rice, 1kg of green beans, 1kg of pork within 10 minutes; cooking 5kg of sticky rice into steamed glutinous rice within 30 minutes; making 10 Giay cakes within 15 minutes. The finished product must met the criteria of aesthetics and quality: Chung cake should be delicious, attractive tasty; Giay cake should be flexible, smooth, white, round.


The two most outstanding teams of this contest will participate in making Chung cake and Giay cake to offer Hung Kings next year and granting the exclusive Certificate for one booth selling Chung cake and Giay cake to serve visitors during the 2020 Hung King Temple Festival.


This was also an opportunity for visitors to contemplate and enjoy the talent of artisans; thereby, promoting cultural identity of the ancestral land to numerous domestic and foreign tourists.







After a day of competition, the organizing committee awarded the first prize to Cam Khe district, the second prize to districts of Phu Ninh, Lam Thao and Viet Tri city, the third prize to Hai Duong province, districts of Thanh Son, Thanh Thuy, Yen Lap, Tan Son, Ha Hoa, Thanh Ba, Tam Nong, Doan Hung and Phu Tho town in the content of making Chung cake.

The first prize to Hai Duong province; the second prize to districts of Yen Lap, Thanh Ba, Viet Tri city and third prizes for the rest teams in the content of making Giay cake.
