Visiting the city "owning" 2 intangible cultural heritages of the world

PTO - Vietnam owns 9 world intangible cultural heritages honored by UNESCO, 2 of them are owned by Viet Tri city, namely the worship of Hung King and Phu Tho Xoan singing. It can be said that all relics and activities related to these two heritage are concentrated in Viet Tri city, including Hung King Temple historical relic site and the system of temples, shrines as well as "living human treasures” who are Xoan singing artists.

The city currently holds 169 tangible and intangible cultural heritages, including 52 intangible cultural heritages, 117 tangible cultural heritages and a relic recognized as special national class; 13 relics at national level and 40 provincial ranking relics. All the legacies are a complex associated with the stories and legends from the Hung King era. Especially, in October 2019, Tam Giang Temple Festival in Bach Hac ward was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, becoming a cultural tourist destination combining spiritual tourism of the city.


Over the past years, the city has exploited all resources to become a modern urban in combination with preserving the traditional cultural identity. Paying attention to the investment, repair and embellishment of cultural heritages in the city with about 60% of socialized capital. Every year, the city regularly inspects and assesses the status of historical and cultural relics in order to detect, prevent and promptly handle acts of infringing upon relics as well as renovate degraded relics and restoring festivals.

From the advantages of culture, together with the development of urban infrastructure, the city has actively exploited "spiritual tourism associated with cultural heritage", announcing 9 destinations in 3 tours of "Viet Tri City tour” including Hung King Temple special national historical relic site, Hung Lo ancient village and communal house, Lai Len temple and Xoan singing performing-places, other historic sites such as Thien Co Temple (the Vietnam's first teacher), general Bat Nan temple (the female general of Hai Ba Trung King); Hanoi - Phu Tho daily tours are also gradually attracting thousands of tourists to the ancestral land. Besides, the city focuses on exploiting the strengths of clean agricultural products, traditional craft villages; bringing new interesting experience to visitors such as farming methods, agricultural product processing.


In order for the cultural heritages in Viet Tri to become attractions for tourists to visit, the city has actively disseminate and promoted on mass media, visual propaganda through travel map products and publications in both Vietnamese and English language, heritage maps, cultural codes of conduct. Striving to 2020, the city will attract the investment capital of the whole society to increase by an average of 10 - 12%/ year to develop infrastructure systems of transport, trade and tourism, etc. to meet the requirements of type I-urban development in association with the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, creating a basis for Viet Tri soon to become a festival city - the origin of the Vietnamese people.
