2019 PCI: Phu Tho ranked third among northern mountainous provinces

PTO - On May 5th, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held an online announcement of the annual Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) Report 2019.

PCI was first published in 2005 by VCCI and USAID to measure the quality of economic governance, the friendliness of the business environment, and cities and provinces’ efforts to reform administrative procedures to boost the development of the private sector.


Quang Ninh continues to leading the 2019 PCI rankings for the third consecutive year with 73.40 points, followed by Dong Thap  with 72.10 points, Vinh Long - 71.30 and Bac Ninh - 70, 79.

This year, Phu Tho ranks 26th out of 63 provinces and cities, standing in the group of provinces and cities with good PCI index, and ranking 3rd among 14 northern mountainous provinces. Over the past 5 years, Phu Tho has jumped 9 notches compared to the 35th position in 2015.

According to the detailed results of 10 PCI indicators, Phu Tho achieves the highest score of legal institutions and security order with 7.55 points and market entry costs with 7.17 points. The lowest index is a transparent business environment and equitable business information with 5.64 points.

The result of PCI rankings this year demonstrates the province's efforts in administrative reform, investment attraction, especially private investment, FDI enterprises, etc.
