Phu Tho announced socio-economic statistics in the first 6 months

PTO - In the afternoon of June 29th, Statistics Department held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics in the first 6 months.

Under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the first 6 months of 2020, the provincial economic growth had the lowest rate in the past 15 years. The total gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was estimated to increase by 1.24% over the same period. In particular, agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 3.62%; industry and construction increased by 0.07%; service sector increased by 1.21%. In terms of added value structure (at current prices): Agriculture, forestry, fishery accounted for 26.65%; industry and construction sector for 32.13%; service sector for 41.22%. In agricultural production, despite Covid-19 pandemic's impact and unfavorable weather conditions, the productivity of spring-spring rice crop still reached 59 quintals/ ha, up by 0.6% over the same period. African hog cholera has been basically controlled, the total output of live hog was estimated at 93.2 thousand tons. The index of the industrial production was estimated to decrease by 1.65% over the same period. Total development investment capital was estimated at VND 12,450.3 billion, down by 2.1% over the same period. Total retail sales of goods and services reached VND 16,618.4 billion, down by 1% over the same period.

In the first 6 months of the year, there are 6 more communes recognized as the new style rural area, bringing the total number of these kinds of communes to 112. The work of social security, health care is guaranteed; 90.1% of communes, wards, towns meet the national standards of health; the percentage of people with health insurance coverage is 91%; the percentage of trained and vocational workers reaches 68.2%. So far, the province has completed the statistics of labours, enterprises and households affected by the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic. The payment is expected to complete before June 20th, 2020.

However, there were some optimistic signals. By June 15th, the province has granted new establishment registration for 343 enterprises (up by 7.9% over the same period), with a total registered capital of VND 2134.6 billion. The total export value of the province was estimated at USD 1,784.4 million, an increase of 2.15 times over the same period; the total import value was estimated at USD 1,725.0 million, increasing by 2.35 times; the consumer price index increased by 5.12%, with the strongest increase of food and catering services.

Regarding the solution for the last 6 months, Mr. Bui Van Quang emphasized: In the coming time, the socio-economic targets would not be adjusted in 2020, in order to strive to fulfill at the highest level of the planned targets.
