Phu Tho officially selected to host the group stage of men's football at the 31st SEA Games

PTO - Implementing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam - Head of the National Steering Committee for the organisation of the 31st SEA Games and the 11th ASEAN Para Games. Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry has just officially announced the addition and adjustment of the venue for a number of competitions and competition content at the 31st SEA Games. In which, the group stage of men's football would be held in Phu Tho province.

According to the signed plan of organizing and preparing for the 31st SEA Games, men's football is expected to take place on 3 sport stadiums of My Dinh, Hang Day (Hanoi) and Thien Truong (Nam Dinh province). However, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports sent an official letter to report the repair of Hang Day Stadium which would not be able to ensure the schedule for SEA Games 2021. Therefore, in September 2020, Phu Tho province has an official letter to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to propose hosting a number of sports at the 31st SEA Games. So far, the Organizing Committee has approved the hosting of one group stage of men's football.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Thuy - Director of Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism affirmed: Phu Tho has sufficient facilities and infrastructure to host one group stage of men's football at 31st SEA Games. According to the request of the Organizing Committee, Phu Tho would have a specific plan to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to upgrade and repair many items of facilities, sports facilities to ensure the conditions for a successful organization of football.

This is good news for the people and football fans of the ancestral land, as well as an opportunity for international friends to visit and experience two intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO as Hung King worship beliefs and Phu Tho Xoan singing.
