Favored by nature in many aspects, Thanh Thuy District is regarded as a four-season tourist destination. Located at the intersection between the Red River Delta and the northern mountainous provinces, it boasts a rare source of hot mineral water, a system of ancient historical and cultural relics, a cool and fresh climate, fertile land, and convenient transportation—all contributing to its appeal to both domestic and international tourists.
Thanh Thuy earns its title as a year-round destination thanks to its suitability for tourism in all seasons. In spring, visitors come to pray for good fortune and immerse themselves in traditional festivals. Summer and autumn offer the perfect setting for relaxation, sightseeing, and enjoying the crisp air. Winter invites guests to experience rare hot mineral baths, savor unique local cuisine, and explore traditional craft villages and the rich Muong culture.
Green Pearl Island attracts a large number of tourists during summer.
The district is currently focused on leveraging various tourism types such as resort tourism, recreational and entertainment tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism, ecotourism, scenic exploration, and craft village experiences. Key destinations include the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site on Bach Thach Hill in Dao Xa Commune, the Lang Suong Temple historical and cultural relic, the Tu Vu Victory Monument, Ba Dong weaving village, Bo Village soy sauce village, Green Pearl Island, Vuon Vua Ecotourism Resort, and Wyndham Thanh Thuy.
In addition, Thanh Thuy is actively developing community-based tourism. Muong cultural clubs in Tu Vu Commune—home to a significant Muong population—have been proactively building cultural performances featuring gong dancing, Muong folk songs, Vi and Rang singing, wine festivals, campfires, and bamboo dancing. These are often paired with local culinary specialties such as roasted pig, traditional wine, fish cakes, ant egg cakes, pickled bamboo shoots, and five-color sticky rice. Traditional folk games like con throwing, pot smashing, and crossbow shooting are also being revived—together creating a vibrant and immersive cultural space that encourages visitors to stay longer and experience more.
“Back of the Hill Camping” is an up-and-coming attraction in Thanh Thuy with exciting activities for tourists.
Thanh Thuy is also recognized as a green tourism destination. With rare hot mineral springs, serene landscapes, and expansive tea hills, it provides a perfect getaway close to nature. One notable example is “Lung Doi Camping,” a picturesque tea hill in Dong Trung Commune that is being developed into a tourist hotspot. Visitors here can breathe in the fresh air, join locals in tea-picking, enjoy homegrown tea, and take stunning “check-in” photos near the tea hills or at the nearby sheep farm. Weekend music nights add to the charm, drawing many young people and families with children.
Mr. Vu Duy Nam, a tourist from Vinh Phuc Province, shared, “My family chose Thanh Thuy for the long holiday and had an incredible experience. We had fun on Ngoc Xanh Island, visited the tea hills, and bathed in the hot mineral springs. There’s still so much we haven’t seen, so Thanh Thuy will definitely be our go-to destination when we return to Phu Tho.”
In recent years, Thanh Thuy District has invested heavily in infrastructure development, land clearance for key projects, and attracting investors to build eco-tourism and spiritual destinations. Its accommodation and dining services are well-equipped to meet the needs of travelers. The district has also been proactive in building partnerships with travel agencies to create tour packages, promote interprovincial connections, and participate in promotional and tourism stimulus programs.
Sen 19 Restaurant in Hoang Xa Commune offers distinctive local cuisine that draws tourists to Thanh Thuy.
Beyond sightseeing and resort stays, many local attractions also host cultural events to entice tourists—such as food festivals, cultural performances, and giant kite-flying activities. The district continues to organize its popular “Street Music Night” on holidays and weekends in Thanh Thuy Town. During the recent April 30–May 1 holiday, Thanh Thuy welcomed over 76,000 visitors, generating more than VND 50 billion in tourism revenue. Of those, over 28,000 tourists stayed overnight, contributing around VND 14 billion.
According to Mr. Vu Duc Kien, Head of the Department of Culture, Science, and Information of Thanh Thuy District, local authorities have actively promoted investment and cooperation with resorts, enterprises, and international companies to organize tours and cultural festivals. These efforts both preserve the unique value of local festivals and turn cultural heritage into a sustainable economic resource. The district is also investing in training and capacity-building for the tourism workforce, enhancing tourism promotion across traditional media and social platforms such as Zalo and Facebook, and digitizing cultural and historical content to enrich the visitor experience.
With its natural endowments and increasingly modern infrastructure, Thanh Thuy is steadily emerging as a key tourism hub in Phu Tho Province. It is expected to develop into the leading hot mineral spring and wellness tourism destination in northern Vietnam—growing rapidly, sustainably, and full of promise.
