On February 20, the Department of Health organized a ceremony to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955–2025).

Authorized by the Prime Minister, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Minh Chau presented the Government’s Emulation Flag to the Department of Health and awarded a banner from the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to the health sector.

Among the distinguished attendees were Bui Minh Chau- Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Bui Van Quang- Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Phung Khanh Tai- Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Do Xuan Tuyen- Standing Deputy Minister of Health; as well as members of the Provincial Party Committee and leaders from various departments, districts, cities, and towns.

Standing Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen also extended congratulations with a floral tribute to the medical community in Phu Tho.

Over the past 70 years, Phu Tho’s health sector has made significant strides. The province currently has six grade I healthcare units and 16 grade II units, employing more than 7,000 staff members. The quality of medical examination, treatment, and patient care has improved markedly. The province has successfully implemented a project to strengthen the healthcare network, ensuring adequate infrastructure, equipment, human resources, and medical supplies at all levels.

Notably, Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital has successfully performed 60% of the techniques used in special-grade hospitals, while district-level healthcare facilities have implemented 15–30% of upper-level techniques. Patient satisfaction with medical services has reached an impressive 98%. Preventive healthcare initiatives have been carried out systematically, with remarkable success in combating and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing significantly to the province’s socio-economic recovery and development. Additionally, population health initiatives, child protection programs, and health insurance coverage have seen steady progress. The sector has also achieved notable milestones in digital transformation. In recognition of these efforts, numerous individuals and organizations within the health sector have been honored with prestigious awards from the party, the state, the Ministry of Health, and the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Quang emphasized that, throughout its 70-year history, generations of healthcare professionals in Phu Tho have remained dedicated to their mission of safeguarding and improving public health. He urged the provincial health sector to continue implementing central and provincial resolutions and policies aimed at enhancing healthcare services and population management in the new era.

He also outlined the province’s vision to modernize and comprehensively develop the healthcare system, striving to transform Phu Tho into a leading medical and healthcare service center in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region. This vision aligns with the Provincial Development Plan for 2021–2030, with a long-term outlook toward 2050.

At the ceremony, Standing Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen presented the title of Meritorious Physician, awarded by the President, to eight distinguished individuals.

Director of the Department of Health, Le Quang Tho, emphasized the importance of enhancing preventive medicine, strengthening grassroots healthcare, and modernizing medical services. He called for a thorough review and revision of policies to develop a robust preventive healthcare system capable of proactively safeguarding public health.

Efforts will also focus on improving the quality of medical treatment, fostering a highly skilled and ethically responsible healthcare workforce, and advocating for better remuneration and incentives to attract top medical talent. Additionally, the health sector will continue promoting administrative reform, accelerating digital transformation, and enhancing partnerships for investment and development.

With these strategic efforts, Phu Tho’s health sector is poised for a new era of growth, ensuring quality healthcare services for the people while advancing its goal of becoming a regional medical hub.
