On March 4, a delegation from Linyi city, Shandong province, China, led by the Secretary of the Linyi City Party Committee, paid a courtesy visit to the provincial leaders and held a working session with Viet Tri city.

Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Phan Trong Tan-Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee-along with Mr. Duong Hoang Huong-Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Viet Tri City Party Committee.
During the meeting, Vice Chairman Phan Trong Tan and Secretary Duong Hoang Huong introduced the province’s socio-economic potential, strengths, and investment incentives. They highlighted the enduring friendship between Vietnam and China, forged by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong, and reinforced through recent high-level visits by leaders of both nations.
Phu Tho has emerged as an attractive destination for investors, with 50 Chinese enterprises already operating in the province, including BYD-the largest electronic components manufacturing company. Given the cultural and historical similarities between the two localities, as well as Linyi’s strategic position as China’s “Logistics Capital” Phu Tho leaders expressed hope for strengthened cooperation in logistics, industry, and services. They also encouraged Linyi to facilitate market access for Phu Tho’s export-oriented enterprises and to promote cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation.

As a symbol of goodwill, Viet Tri City leaders presented gifts showcasing Phu Tho’s cultural heritage to the Linyi delegation, reinforcing the commitment to furthering diplomatic and economic ties between the two regions.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the Secretary of the Linyi City Party Committee emphasized Linyi City’s dynamism and historical significance as the hometown of notable Chinese figures. With a population of 12 million and an area exceeding 17,000 km2, Linyi is the largest city in Shandong Province in both population and territory.
In 2024, Viet Tri and Linyi signed a friendship cooperation agreement covering various sectors, including economy, trade, science and technology, education, culture, and tourism. This agreement serves as a foundation for fostering long-term, sustainable collaboration between the two cities.
Under the theme “Promoting Connection, Strengthening Cooperation,” Linyi City aims to expand exchanges in key industries such as electronics, automobiles, new construction materials, textiles, processed foods, and agricultural products. Following this visit, Linyi will work on implementing the signed cooperation agreements with Viet Tri City, contributing to the socio-economic development of both localities.
