Economic diplomacy contributes to country development
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened a plenary meeting on economic diplomacy to assist national development on December 21 in Hanoi, as part of the 32nd Diplomatic Conference. The conference was attended and addressed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. It was held in person and online in provinces and cities around the country.
Delegates at the conference discussed and assessed global economic prospects, major country investment trends, and their impacts on the Vietnamese economy; exchanged experiences in leveraging local free trade agreements to accelerate exports; and discussed the potential for development of the semiconductor industry, as well as the role of the Foreign Affairs sector in connecting Vietnamese businesses to participate in regional and global semiconductor supply chains; propose methods to attract foreign resources to support strategic breakthroughs; strengthen economic collaboration with other nations; and capitalize on new ideas for strategic infrastructure development, etc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted during the conference: "In 2024, there will be many opportunities and challenges intertwined, therefore diplomatic work must be proactive and close to the new situation; have a strategic vision." Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that we must not be subjective or neglectful in our diplomatic actions; we must have a plan to completely resolve unresolved concerns. We must prioritize national interests; policy responses must be timely, harmonic, and effective, with no waste of resources. Diplomatic actions embody the essence of “Vietnamese bamboo - Solid roots, sturdy trunk, flexible branches” by instilling trust in partners, respecting truth, and using reality as a yardstick.
