Ensuring safe banking operations during Tet

To ensure stable and smooth banking operations, especially payment activities, during the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024, implementing the directions of the Government and the State Bank (SBV), the SBV Provincial Branch has focused on implementing measures to ensure security and safety of banking operations.

Accordingly, the SBV Provincial Branch requires banks and credit institutions in the area to concentrate their best resources to organize and operate the electronic payment system, ensuring the systems to operate continuously, stably, safely and smoothly, meeting increased payment needs before and during Tet; strengthen the implementation of operational monitoring and technical solutions to ensure payment system security and customer information data privacy.

In particular, at automatic withdrawal points, there often occurs local congestion or money running out. To avoid the above situation, the SBV Provincial Branch directs banks and credit institutions to prepare resources and promptly take appropriate measures to reduce the load on payment POS, ATMs, ensuring smooth, stable and safe 24/7 operation of the system. Currently, with a system of 1,035 payment POS, 184 ATMs, nine automatic deposit and withdrawal machines (Autobank), especially Nam A Bank Branch has installed the Onebank digital ecosystem located in convenient locations, enabling people to easily access and use services. The industry arranges forces to regularly monitor the operation of ATM and POS systems, in order to proactively detect and promptly handle technical problems, avoiding interruptions in operations and frustration for customers.

The industry promotes propaganda and guides customers to use appropriate non-cash payment services to reduce cash withdrawals at POS, ATMs... At the same time, implement crime prevention and control plans; Closely coordinate with authorities in preventing and fighting crimes of fraud and property appropriation in cyberspace; Promptly report to the SBV Provincial Branch on issues arising from insecurity and safety during the service provision process; Timely detect suspicious and fraudulent transactions to warn customers and take remedial measures.

In addition, the SBV Provincial Branch proactively develops cash supply plans and directs banks and credit institutions to strictly comply with regulations on delivery, storage, and transportation of cash at the end of the year; Strengthens inspection, examination and supervision of activities of credit institutions and bank branches to ensure the safety of liquidity, treasury, transaction headquarters, assets and banking activities. Coordinate with authorities to strengthen inspection and promptly handle violations in foreign currency and gold trading activities, new currency exchange services, and illegally trading cash in small denominations.

Mr. Pham Truong Giang - Director of the SBV Provincial Branch affirmed: The banking industry is drastic in directing and operating banks and credit institutions to ensure sufficient cash supply for the economy, meeting the credit capital demand for organizations and individuals in the area, serving production and business development at the end of the current year and the beginning of the new year. It is strictly forbidden for credit entities to receive newly printed money and not spend it in circulation but keep it in warehouse, causing difficulties for payment and circulation.
