On August 15, at the Multi-purpose Stadium in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, the final events and award ceremony for the 2024 National Youth Pencak Silat Championship were held. The Phu Tho Pencak Silat team won 12 medals and achieved second place overall in the 15-17 age group.
This year’s tournament brought together nearly 600 athletes from 30 provinces, cities, and organizations across the country, competing for 73 sets of medals. The Phu Tho Pencak Silat team included 2 coaches and 14 athletes who competed in various weight categories: 36kg, 54kg, 55kg, 57kg, 66kg, 69kg, across three age groups: 12-14 years, 15-17 years, and 18-20 years.
After over 10 days of intense competition, Phu Tho’s young Pencak Silat fighters secured 12 medals in total, including 7 gold medals won by: Nguyen Bich Ngoc (36kg female, 12-14 years), Nguyen Thi Huong (54kg female), Phan Thu Hien (66kg female), Nguyen Chinh Nghia (57kg male), Dinh Tien Cuu (69kg male, 15-17 years), Tran Hai Dang (50kg male), and Trinh Van Duong (55kg male, 18-20 years). Additionally, they won 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. This performance earned Phu Tho the second place overall in the 15-17 age group, ranking above the Army team and only behind the Thanh Hoa team.
