On August 18, at Kom Tum Stadium, Kom Tum Province, young athletes of Phu Tho athletics had an excellent day of competition to close the 2024 National Youth Athletics Championship with first place overall. In which athlete Ta Ngoc Tuong broke the National Youth Record in the men’s 400m race.

This year’s National Youth Athletics Championship took place from August 14-18 with the participation of 420 athletes from 55 units in provinces, cities, and sectors across the country.
The Phu Tho Athletics team has 5 athletes registered to compete in the following events: 100m men’s and women’s; 200m men’s; 400m men’s; long jump women’s; triple jump women’s; and 3,000m men’s hurdles.
Athlete Ta Ngoc Tuong won 2 gold medals, breaking the national youth record in the men’s 400m race.
After 5 days of exciting competition, the athletes of Phu Tho have won 5 gold medals. In which athlete Ta Ngoc Tuong won 2 gold medals in the following events: 200m run with a time of 21 seconds 20; men’s 400m run with a time of 46 seconds 54 (breaking the national youth record); and 2 gold medals by the girl from Tan Son Ha Thi Thuy Hang in the events: Women’s long jump with a time of 5m81; women’s triple jump with a time of 12m90. The remaining gold medal belonged to athlete Luong Xuan Son in the men’s 3000m obstacle race with a time of 9 minutes, 40 seconds.
The young girl from Tan Son Ha Thi Thuy Hang excellently won the “double” gold medals.
5 gold medals, breaking the national record, and the overall first place are clear evidence of the efforts of the teachers and students of Phu Tho Athletics Department in more than 10 years of persistent training.
This will be the motivation for the young faces of Phu Tho Athletics to continue to strive for high achievements at the National Championship-the birthplace of Vietnam’s top athletic athletes-or further, to win tickets to participate in the 25th SEA Games in Thailand in 2025 and aim for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
