Remembering the day General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Thanh Son

In the constant flow of time, there are moments and events that leave a deep impression on everyone’s heart. For the people of Thanh Son, one of those special events was the day General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited. That visit left many unforgettable memories for the cadres and people of Thanh Son.

The General Secretary met with leaders, former leaders, and prestigious people among ethnic minorities in Vo Mieu commune.

Ten years ago, in 2014, the people of Thanh Son welcomed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with joy and pride. The familiar village road suddenly filled with laughter, red flags with yellow stars fluttering in the wind, and the radiant faces of the people. The presence of the General Secretary is not only an honor but also a great source of spiritual encouragement for the Party Committee, the government, and the people of all ethnic groups in Thanh Son district in particular and Phu Tho province in general.

During the working program, the General Secretary took the time to visit and encourage the people and meet with village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people among the ethnic groups in Vo Mieu commune. At that time, due to a low starting point, large area, large population, and infrastructure that did not meet the needs of socio-economic development, the poverty rate of Vo Mieu commune was 12.84%, with only 7/19 criteria meeting the new rural standards...

The General Secretary advised that on the path of construction and development, the locality needs to do better in poverty reduction. In addition to paying attention to infrastructure investment and having reasonable development policies of the party and state, it is necessary to pay attention to overcoming the mentality of waiting and relying on the state and promoting the spirit of initiative, positivity, and efforts to build the family economy of the people.

Regarding the new rural construction program, the General Secretary requested that all levels and sectors continue to implement it persistently and long-term; need to arouse the internal strength of the people; combine the synchronous construction of economic infrastructure with social infrastructure; develop the economy along with preserving cultural identity and protecting the environment.

Emotionally recalling the early days of April 2014, as one of the prestigious delegates among ethnic minorities of Vo Mieu commune, attending the working session with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Mr. Ha Noi, the former Secretary of Thanh Son District Party Committee, currently living in Banh area, Vo Mieu commune shared: I myself, as well as the people of Vo Mieu commune, are very honored and proud to welcome the General Secretary to visit our homeland.

Although the working time was only over an hour, in addition to listening to reports on the local socio-economic development situation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also took the time to kindly inquire about the health and living conditions of the people, especially listening to the difficulties and hardships of the ethnic minorities here. The General Secretary’s concern, sharing, and encouragement are also the motivation for the Party Committee, government, and people of Vo Mieu commune to strive to build their homeland to meet the new rural standards according to the roadmap.

In particular, in the working program of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Vo Mieu commune, when sharing, chatting, and listening to the aspirations of the people, it was known that one of the biggest difficulties for the people here is that the traffic route between Thuc Luyen and Vo Mieu communes has degraded, making it very difficult for local traffic and trade.

In response to that expectation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong agreed to the policy of building the project: Bridge over Ban River, Vo Mieu commune, with the starting point in Thuc Luyen commune and the ending point on route 316C in Van Mieu commune. With a total length of 11.7 km, the total investment of the project is over VND294 billion. The project started construction in 2014 and was completed and put into use in 2018. This is an important project, making the rural appearance of the two communes of Thuc Luyen and Vo Mieu increasingly prosperous, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Thanh Son district. Today, the people of the two communes of Thuc Luyen and Vo Mieu still call that road the affectionate “Bac Trong Road”.

The cultural house of Thanh Ha residential area, Vo Mieu commune, was built spaciously.

Mr. Ha Van Thao, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Vo Mieu commune, said: "The completion of the project has contributed to ensuring a stable life for the people—no traffic jams during the rainy season, no threats due to landslides on the banks of the Dan River. Since the road was built, people have been very excited, with adults going to work and children going to school much more conveniently, creating conditions for people to develop the economy and improve their lives. The people of Vo Mieu commune are very grateful to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for this road—the road of the people’s hearts".

Regarding the work of party building and building the local political system, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also requested that party committees and authorities at all levels continue to well implement Resolution 4 of the Central Committee in conjunction with strictly implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo on “studying and following the ideology, morality, and lifestyle of Ho Chi Minh” and continue to promote democracy at the grassroots level and the role of political organizations. The General Secretary emphasized that economic development is the focus and party building is the key, in which building workers, building cadres, building high-quality human resources, etc. are decisive.

Remembering the words of the General Secretary, the trust and love of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for the district over the years have truly been a source of motivation, urging the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups to strive to rise up.

So far, with the attention of the Party, the State, the efforts of the Party Committee, the government, and the consensus of the local people, the whole district has 6 communes meeting the new rural standards; the remaining communes have met 9–14 criteria; the total number of areas meeting the new rural standards is 130. Of which, Vo Mieu commune has met the new rural standards in 2022 and is on the way to building an advanced new rural area. So far, the General Secretary’s thoughtfulness, sharing, and encouragement have always been a great source of encouragement and spiritual support to help local cadres and people strive to build their homeland.

With the orientation in the coming time, the district will focus on implementing well the breakthrough "Improving the investment and business environment to attract resources for development, focusing on developing infrastructure and industries, fields, and areas with potential advantages." The immediate task for a mountainous district like Thanh Son still has many difficulties and challenges.

In the infinite grief of the General Secretary, the Party Committee, the government, and the people of all ethnic groups in the district vow to unite and make more efforts to complete the annual socio-economic development targets. Promoting the tradition of the heroic Thanh Son homeland with over 190 years of age, worthy of the noble award of the First Class Labor Medal awarded by the Party and State, along with the aspiration for development, we believe that Thanh Son district will be determined to successfully implement the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020–2025 term.
