On the morning of October 6, a working delegation led by Comrade Quach Tat Liem — Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee — conducted an on-site inspection of the route planning for the Hai Ba Trung Bridge across the Lo River and the transport road connecting to the IC6 interchange on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway. Joining the delegation were leaders of relevant provincial departments, sectors, units, and localities.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Quach Tat Liem giving directives on the implementation option for the road connecting to the IC6 interchange on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway.
Vice Chairman Quach Tat Liem and the delegation inspected and evaluated the route alignment, connecting points, intersections, and areas expected to be impacted during the execution of the IC6 interchange connection road project.
The project was assigned by the Provincial People’s Committee to the Department of Construction for research and investment proposals. To date, the consulting unit has completed researching route options and drafting the pre-feasibility study report.
According to the pre-feasibility study report, the project falls under Group A transport works, implemented across Viet Tri ward and Son Dong and Tien Lu communes. Under planning orientations, the route functions as a primary arterial road and the gateway to the administrative center of Phu Tho province. The Department of Construction studied 3 route alignment options and 3 structural options for Hai Ba Trung Bridge, including a cable-stayed bridge, an Extradosed bridge, and a network-tied steel arch bridge.
Based on comparing and evaluating options, the recommended route option minimizes intersections, reduces impacts on existing structures, fulfills technical requirements for an urban arterial road, and aligns with the intersection plan for the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line; featuring an oriented planned cross-sectional width of 90 meters.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Quach Tat Liem providing feedback on the route planning option for the Hai Ba Trung Bridge across the Lo River.
For Hai Ba Trung Bridge, the cable-stayed bridge design was recommended for further research and refinement in subsequent stages. The specific architectural design of the bridge will be determined through an architectural design contest in accordance with regulations.
The project aims to strengthen connection between Phu Tho’s central area and external transport systems, forming a new traffic axis across the Lo River, gradually completing the planned transport network, and expanding urban development space on both banks of the Lo River.
Concurrently, the project contributes to enhancing connectivity, reducing travel time and freight transport costs, while creating favorable conditions to effectively exploit land funds and drive urban development, commerce, services, logistics, and investment attraction.

Leaders of the Department of Construction reporting on the route planning option for Hai Ba Trung Bridge across the Lo River.
Delivering concluding remarks at the inspection, Vice Chairman Quach Tat Liem emphasized: This is a key transport project that carries significant importance in enhancing connection between the province’s central area and the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway, while contributing to expanding urban development space on both sides of the Lo River.
He requested the Department of Construction along with relevant departments, sectors, and localities to continue coordinating closely to thoroughly review route options, investment scale, and related details—ensuring synchronization with regional planning and infrastructure projects, as well as feasibility and investment efficiency.
Based on feedback from various units, the Department of Construction will continue finalizing documentation and carrying out investment preparation steps in accordance with proper procedures and legal regulations.
