Supervising the implementation of tourism development tasks in Thanh Thuy district

On October 1, the monitoring delegation of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Council, led by Mr. Bui Minh Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, supervised the implementation of tourism development tasks in Thanh Thuy district.

Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau delivered a concluding speech at the monitoring session.

According to the summary report on tourism development, Thanh Thuy district currently has 70 tourism service businesses, including 11 resort destinations, 25 accommodation establishments, and dozens of food and beverage service businesses serving tourists. In the first nine months of 2024, the district attracted 890,000 visitors. The Wyndham and Vuon Vua projects have been put into operation to ensure the approved design capacity, expected to reach over 1.5 million visitors/year by 2025. Regarding revenue from tourism and services, in the first 9 months of 2024, it reached 640 billion VND, an increase of more than 23% compared to 2023; the average annual growth rate is 66.4%, ensuring the completion of the target according to the roadmap.

Thanks to tourism development, jobs have been created for 17,300 workers, accounting for over 38% of the labor structure. Regarding tourism development planning, the district has publicly announced and managed planning and architecture for approved plans; submitted to the Provincial People’s Committee for approval of the overall adjustment project of the Thanh Thuy town master plan to 2035, at a scale of 1/5,000.

The district has completed the work of establishing and approving the master plan of communes in the district for the period 2021-2030, at a scale of 1/5,000; at the same time, coordinate with the Department of Construction and related departments to guide investors in carrying out planning procedures and preparing investment proposal documents for key projects on trade and services.

Thanh Thuy district leaders reported on the results of implementing tourism development tasks in the area.

Resort tourism products, entertainment, cultural and spiritual tourism, community tourism, experiential tourism, etc. have received investment attention. The district is researching and synchronously implementing many commercial projects on service tourism and commercial housing.

At the monitoring session, the representative of the district leaders also mentioned the current limitations in tourism development in the area: Although investment and construction of tourism infrastructure have received investment attention, some roads have degraded, the traffic system is narrow, and the tourist density is high, increasing on weekends and holidays. Some tourism businesses are still small in scale, with limited competitiveness and investment capacity. Agricultural products serving tourism are not abundant, diverse, and rich in types. High-quality human resources serving tourism development still face many difficulties...

After listening to the report, discussion, and answers of the delegation members to the district’s proposals, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Minh Chau acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and results that Thanh Thuy district has achieved in developing the tourism industry in recent times, becoming a bright spot in the province’s tourism development and contributing significantly to promoting local socio-economic development.

Regarding the key tasks in the coming time, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council emphasized that in order to develop sustainable tourism, there needs to be a long-term roadmap based on effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the locality. Therefore, along with raising awareness of the Party Committee, government, and people about exploiting the potential of hot mineral water resources, first of all, the district needs to have standard planning and good management of planning issues; prioritize the selection of investors with capacity, experience, and professionalism in tourism development; accompany investors in implementing projects; and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles.

He requested that the functional forces regularly review businesses exploiting hot mineral water sources and resolvely handle violations. The district needs to continue to accompany investors to create a legal corridor, ensure political security and social order, pay attention to training and developing human resources, invest in synchronous technical infrastructure to promote tourism development and tourism services, build and improve the quality of tourism products, promote propaganda and promotion, mobilize the participation of organizations, unions, and people, and join hands to build Thanh Thuy district into a key district for tourism development in the province.
