On March 1, Tam Nong district held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister’s decision to recognize Tam Nong district as meeting new rural standard (NRS) in 2023.
Tam Nong district has completed the criteria for a new rural district after more than 12 years of working together and unanimously implementing the National Target Program to develop new rural areas, with the viewpoint and motto “Developing new rural areas is a central, regular, continuous, long-term task, with a starting point but no ends”; identifying the people as the subject, prioritizing the people’s power, and the State playing a supporting role. The appearance of communes and towns in the district is becoming more spacious, bright, green, clean, and attractive.
Over the last 12 years, the district’s New Rural Areas Program has received approximately 2,200 billion VND in total investment capital, including over 132 billion VND provided by individuals. The district has 11/11 communes that meet New Rural criteria, with two of them meeting advanced New Rural levels; Hung Hoa town reaches civilized urban norms. Nineteen residential neighborhoods were identified as exemplary rural regions. People’s material and spiritual life are gradually improving. In 2023, the average income would be 53.3 million VND/person/year, up thrice from 2011; the poverty rate would decrease to 2.33%. Cultural and social spheres expand thoroughly; national defense, security, social order, and safety are ensured; and the political system from district to grassroots is increasingly comprehensive and strong.
Tam Nong district was honored on February 6, 2024, when the Prime Minister signed a Decision recognizing the area as reaching New Rural standard in 2023. During the occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau presented the Government’s Emulation Flag to the Tam Nong district Party Committee, authorities, and people, recognizing it as an excellent unit in the 2022 emulation campaign.
