To develop Thanh Thuy tourism in line with its potential

Located in the southwestern part of Phu Tho province, Thanh Thuy possesses a diverse and unique tourism resource, harmoniously combining rich nature with a long-standing historical and cultural heritage. To maximize this potential and turn opportunities into new achievements, the Thanh Thuy tourism sector has implemented various solutions, leveraging available resources and advantages to make tourism a key economic sector of the district, contributing to enhancing the image and position of the province’s tourism on the Vietnamese tourism map.

In the first eight months of 2024, the number of tourists to Thanh Thuy is estimated to reach 795,000, including approximately 172,000 overnight guests (up 45% compared to the same period last year); estimated revenue is around 560 billion VND (up 41% compared to the same period last year), reflecting the rapid growth of the district’s tourism sector.

After the 26th Congress of the Thanh Thuy District Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, the Thanh Thuy District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 08-NQ/HU on April 16, 2021, regarding the development of Thanh Thuy tourism for the 2021-2025 period, with a vision towards 2030. This resolution identifies tourism as a breakthrough area, aiming to establish the district as a key tourism region and a center for ecological and resort tourism in the province. At the same time, it emphasizes integrating tourism development with rural development, focusing on forming tourism products, preserving and promoting cultural heritage, and protecting the environment and resources for tourism.

Thanh Thuy aims to attract over 1.5 million visitors annually by 2025, with revenue exceeding 1 trillion VND and creating jobs for approximately 18,000 workers. The goal for 2030 is for Thanh Thuy to become a tourism district and the tourism center of Phu Tho province, targeting 2.5 million visitors per year, nearly 1.8 trillion VND in revenue, and jobs for nearly 30,000 workers.

In the coming time, the district will continue to focus on leading and directing the implementation of synchronized solutions for tourism development. This includes promoting trade promotion programs and product advertising, as well as developing e-commerce. The district will concentrate resources to create favorable conditions for attracting investors to implement major projects and key tourism projects, as well as several model urban area projects and rural tourism community projects with an investment capital of over 10 trillion VND. Additionally, there will be a focus on funding to build and upgrade connecting roads between key tourism sites and neighboring districts and provinces, and support for businesses and individuals to develop tourism products and OCOP products for visitors.

The district will also continue to promote and advertise its potential and strengths, cooperate in developing tourism markets, diversify tourism types, and highlight the unique tourism products of the district. There will be increased promotion of Thanh Thuy tourism on electronic information pages and social networks like Zalo and Facebook, aiming to gradually establish Thanh Thuy tourism as a key economic sector and a major tourism region of Phu Tho province.

Mr. Duong Quoc Lam, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the Thanh Thuy District People’s Committee, stated that in recent years, the district has focused on effectively implementing breakthrough measures for tourism development under the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, and the Provincial People’s Committee, as well as the correct orientation of the Thanh Thuy District Party Committee in economic development. Thanh Thuy has prioritized investing in infrastructure, clearing land for key projects, and creating conditions to attract potential investors to develop eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, and high-quality tourism products, linked with building the Thanh Thuy tourism brand.

Notably, the Thanh Thuy Tourism Week - Autumn 2024, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the district’s re-establishment, took place from August 31 to September 4, with the theme “Towards the Land of Green Water,” launching the Thanh Thuy tourism season for 2024. The event aims to showcase distinctive cultural features, promote potential, and stimulate tourism in Thanh Thuy, aligning with the goal of making tourism a key economic sector as outlined in the resolutions of the district’s Party Congress.
