Building a Civilized and Safe Tourism Image

To provide visitors with satisfaction and unforgettable experiences, in addition to investing in infrastructure and improving service quality, cultural behavior is considered a key factor in attracting tourists to local destinations. Acknowledging this, localities and tourist attractions in the province have implemented various systematic measures to develop safe, friendly, civilized, and hospitable destinations.

Building a Civilized and Safe Tourism Image

Long Coc Commune, Tan Son District has significant tourism potential due to its pristine natural conditions, fresh climate, and stunning landscapes, particularly the endless rolling tea hills shaped like giant green bowls, which attract visitors seeking to capture breathtaking moments. Recognizing the preferences of tourists, especially international visitors who are drawn to eco-tourism, the provincial tourism sector has included Long Coc in tour itineraries. Efforts have been made to equip local communities with basic tourism knowledge and provide training for households engaged in community-based tourism combined with traditional tea production, diversifying tourism products and improving local livelihoods.

Currently, Tan Son District has 44 accommodation facilities with a total capacity of about 650 guests, including 16 homestays. In 2024, the district welcomed over 40 million visitors to its various attractions. To strengthen its tourism brand under the “Green Tourism” model, the district has proactively implemented several measures, such as enhancing tourist-friendly and safe environments, setting up a hotline to receive and respond to visitor feedback, and providing comprehensive information on tourist attractions and services.

About 20 km from Long Coc, Xuan Son National Park is home to a diverse ecosystem with many rare plant and animal species, along with waterfalls, streams, and caves. Additionally, the Muong and Dao ethnic communities living in the core area of the park have preserved their unique cultural traditions, making it an ideal location for various forms of tourism. The park is particularly popular among trekking enthusiasts, offering outdoor adventures such as long-distance hiking, mountain climbing, and multi-day jungle trekking.

To cater to visitors’ exploration and experience needs, more than 10 households in Xuan Son National Park are currently offering homestay services. Alongside its majestic natural scenery and rich cultural heritage, the hospitality and warm smiles of the locals and tourism service providers play a crucial role in attracting and retaining visitors to the park.

According to Ms. Ha Thi To Nguyet, Deputy Head of the District’s Culture and Information Office, community-based tourism has been growing rapidly in Long Coc and Xuan Son in recent years. Many families have renovated their stilt houses or built new ones to serve as homestays for tourists. To preserve the cultural identity of ethnic communities, the district has actively promoted awareness campaigns encouraging homestay operators to maintain the traditional landscape and cultural spaces of their ethnic houses. Additionally, locals and tourism service providers are encouraged to participate in training sessions on hospitality, cooking, guest reception, and image-building. At the same time, efforts are being made to educate and guide communities on preserving their traditional culture while integrating it with sustainable tourism development.
