Hy Cuong commune, Viet Tri city, is an ancient land, the cradle of Lac Viet culture, where many tangible and intangible cultural heritages associated with the Hung King era are preserved, creating a unique appearance for the Ancestral Land... Therefore, implementing the Local Education subject in the 2018 General Education Program, schools in the commune have many favorable conditions, especially organizing practical experiences for students to expand their understanding of the cultural and historical traditions of their homeland. Thereby, helping them apply what they have learned to contribute to preserving and promoting the historical values and fine cultural traditions of the nation.
Students of Hy Cuong Primary School participated in the palanquin procession on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day - Hung King Temple Festival and the Cultural Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in the year of Giap Thin 2024.
According to tradition, in each school year, Hy Cuong Primary School has organized an interdisciplinary experience activity on Homeland Education - Life Skills for students at the Hung Kings Museum, Hung King Temple Historical Relic Site. Here, students can visit and learn about the exhibits; exchange and learn some traditional historical knowledge. Through these activities, the tradition of “drinking water, remembering its source” is taught, and love for the homeland is fostered in each student.
Every year, on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day - Hung King Temple Festival, students of Hy Cuong Secondary School participate in activities such as incense offering, Xoan singing, sanitation work, etc. at the Hung King Temple Historical Relic Site.
In addition, the school also displays photo materials introducing the landmarks of the Hung King Temple Historical Relic Site. Through these topics, students are interested in learning about the content of the subject of local education, thereby forming a love for their homeland and gradually developing their own qualities and abilities in accordance with the orientation and goals of the General Education Program 2018.
To make each local education lesson more attractive and lively, over the past years, Hy Cuong Secondary School has organized for students to visit and experience real life, learn about local relic sites such as Co Tich Communal House, Lung Communal House, and sites in the Hung King Temple Historical Relic Complex such as Lac Long Quan Temple on Sim Mountain, Au Co Temple on Van Mountain, Hung Vuong Museum, and Hung Kings Temple on Nghia Linh Mountain (Hung Mountain).
Students also participate in the incense offering ceremony team and the local Xoan singing team on the occasion of Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary - Hung King Temple Festival. In addition, the school also organized for students to visit some historical sites outside the area, such as the Military Zone 1 Museum (Thai Nguyen), K9 Da Chong Relic Site, Hanoi. Through these practical lessons, students realized that it was not only an honor to contribute to or understand the cultural values and historical traditions of the locality, but also a pride to be born and raised in the homeland of Hy Cuong. Vu Mai Thanh Truc, class 7C, Hy Cuong Secondary School, said: “Studying the subject of community education, participating in the incense offering team, the local Xoan singing team... helps me understand more about the cultural traditions and history of the Ancestral Land through the periods, the typical figures of the Hung Kings' founding period, typical historical figures of the province... The subject has helped us understand more about the geographical location, boundaries, and administrative divisions of the locality, the values of folk performing arts, traditional craft villages in Phu Tho... From this understanding, I can confidently introduce and guide friends from all regions to the beloved homeland where I was born—the land of origin of the Vietnamese people.
Currently, according to the 2018 General Education Program, local education is a compulsory subject and content. To meet the requirements of teaching and learning, as well as other subjects, schools in Hy Cuong commune have overcome some difficulties, such as: being proactive in materials, means, and teaching equipment; being flexible in developing teaching plans; organizing teaching of topics inside or outside the classroom, including experiential activities; interdisciplinary teaching; linking theory with practice...
Thereby, helping students to connect information, clearly perceive the characteristics of each region, area,... Thereby, contributing to equipping students with useful knowledge; at the same time, arousing their interest in learning local education, fostering love for their homeland and country and applying it to real life, and having useful jobs for themselves, their families, and the community.
