On the afternoon of March 27, at the Provincial Convention Center, the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Council solemnly opened its First Session of the 20th Tenure (2026–2031). As the inaugural meeting of the new term, this session holds special significance in establishing the local government apparatus and setting the province’s development orientation for the coming period. Mr. Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the 19th Provincial People’s Council, presided over the session.

The session welcomed distinguished leaders, including Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong — Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Chairman of the Board for Deputy Affairs; Mr. Pham Dai Duong — Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; and Mr. Tran Duy Dong — Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. They were joined by 85 newly elected deputies of the 20th Provincial People’s Council.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Bui Duc Hinh congratulated the 85 deputies entrusted by voters. He affirmed that the elections held on March 15—with a remarkable 99.91% voter turnout—demonstrated the people’s high sense of responsibility and patriotism. The success of the election reflects the close leadership of the Party and the effective coordination of the entire political system.
Chairman Hinh emphasized that this session is not merely about personnel organization but serves as a starting point to enhance the quality and efficiency of the People’s Council and People’s Committee throughout the term. He urged deputies to uphold democracy and responsibility, especially in personnel matters, to elect exemplary individuals with the capacity and prestige to undertake key roles.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Trong Tan reported on the election results, noting that the province successfully elected 17 National Assembly deputies, 85 provincial deputies, and 3,058 communal-level deputies.

Directing the session, Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong praised the efforts of the people and the political system. He oriented the Council toward a “constructive supervision” model, ensuring every policy originates from the people’s will and aims to improve their material and spiritual lives, ensuring "no one is left behind." He called on each deputy to be committed, upright, and innovative for the common good.

Following the opening ceremony, the Council will proceed to elect key leadership positions for the People’s Council and People’s Committee, as well as jurors for the People’s Court for the 2026–2031 tenure. The session will also review voters' petitions summarized by the Fatherland Front and decide on other vital regional matters.
