According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Phu Tho currently has two national tourist areas: the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site and the Tam Dao Tourist Area.
In the province, one additional tourist area - Hoa Binh Lake is already recognized as a provincial-level tourist area and is in the process of being upgraded to meet the criteria for recognition as a national tourist area.
Phu Tho has placed strong emphasis on mobilizing investment resources and building technical infrastructure at tourist sites, thereby shaping distinct destinations that meet the needs of both domestic and international visitors.
The Tam Dao National Tourist Area continues to attract travelers with its misty townscape and scenic charm.
Hoa Binh Lake, with its great potential for resort tourism, is being actively promoted for investment to achieve recognition as a national tourist area.
At the same time, businesses are increasing investment and upgrading facilities to ensure quality services for tourists. Across the province, there are 1,520 accommodation establishments offering more than 20,000 rooms, including 182 hotels (9 of which are 4–5-star hotels), along with 94 licensed travel service enterprises.
In 2025, Phu Tho expects to welcome an estimated 14.5 million visitors, including 4.5 million overnight stays. Total tourism revenue is projected to reach VND 14,800 billion.
