At the Phu Tho provincial bridge point, the conference was chaired by Tran Duy Dong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee. Also attending were Phan Trong Tan, Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Quach Tat Liem, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, together with leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

The State Steering Committee is currently overseeing 55 national key transport projects comprising 124 component projects, including 49 road projects, five aviation projects and one seaport project. Of these, the Ministry of Construction serves as the managing agency for 37 projects, local authorities oversee 77 projects, while other agencies are responsible for the remaining 10.

To date, 30 projects and component projects have been completed and put into operation, including 24 managed by the Ministry of Construction, five by local authorities and one by another agency. Meanwhile, five projects are undergoing pre-feasibility studies, 20 are at the feasibility study stage, eight are preparing detailed construction designs following project approval, and 61 projects are currently under construction.

During the first half of 2026, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, who also heads the Steering Committee, chaired two committee meetings and assigned 54 tasks to ministries, sectors and localities. Eighteen tasks have been completed on schedule, including seven with specific deadlines and eleven without fixed timelines, while 27 long-term and routine tasks remain under implementation. Two tasks were completed behind schedule, and seven others related to investment approval, feasibility studies, investor selection, construction materials and site clearance have yet to meet the required progress.

The conference noted significant improvements in project implementation across ministries, sectors and localities, with many obstacles and bottlenecks resolved through close coordination, helping accelerate project execution.

In Phu Tho Province, major transport projects currently under implementation include the Hoa Binh–Moc Chau Expressway, the Hoa Lac–Hoa Binh Road, and the upgrading and expansion of National Highway 6 through the Xuan Mai–Hoa Binh section under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The province has substantially completed all tasks assigned by the Prime Minister, with no overdue assignments.

However, the projects continue to face challenges related to land clearance, funding, construction material supplies and financial arrangements. The province is also expediting site clearance for the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway project to ensure compliance with the Government’s implementation schedule.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung acknowledged and commended the efforts made by ministries, sectors and localities in implementing assigned tasks. Stressing that transport infrastructure serves as a key driver of socio-economic development, he urged all ministries and local governments to maintain a strong sense of responsibility, considering project implementation an important indicator of each locality’s and agency’s performance while contributing to the effective disbursement of public investment.

The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation from provinces and cities nationwide.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to assign personnel according to their capabilities, comprehensively address outstanding issues related to land clearance, construction materials, investment procedures and capital allocation, and strengthen coordination to promptly resolve emerging problems without affecting project schedules.

He also called for greater decentralization coupled with clearer accountability of leaders, enhanced inspection and supervision to ensure project quality and the efficient use of investment resources, and strict measures to prevent corruption and waste of state assets.

Regarding proposals raised by local authorities, the Prime Minister assigned relevant ministries and agencies to review and address them in accordance with their authority and legal regulations. He expressed confidence that achieving the established targets would contribute to developing a synchronized and modern transport infrastructure system, creating new momentum for the country’s development in the years ahead.
