Every spring, millions of children of the Vietnamese land eagerly make their pilgrimage to Phu Tho, the birthplace of the Vietnamese people, to honor the contributions of their ancestors and the Hung Kings who founded the nation. For Phu Tho, it is a matter of pride, honor, and responsibility to represent the people of the entire country in taking care of the royal tombs, offering incense, and honoring the ancestors.
The province always prepares meticulously to welcome those on the journey back to the homeland, including overseas Vietnamese; it also serves as an opportunity to promote the unique cultural identity of the Fatherland region to both domestic and international visitors. Therefore, the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary and the Fatherland Culture and Tourism Week, held annually, are both a pilgrimage to the origin and a unique cultural, ecological, and spiritual tourism "tour."
The Hung Kings' Death Anniversary and the Fatherland Culture and Tourism Week in 2025 will take place from March 29 to April 7, 2025 (from the 1st to the 10th of the 3rd lunar month). During this period, the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary activities will be solemnly and respectfully organized according to national cultural traditions, with incense offerings and floral tributes from delegations of the Party, Government, central ministries, and provinces, as well as a large number of people from across the country. All organizational work has been completed to ensure that the ceremonies are held with dignity and respect, fostering a community spirit. The festival activities will showcase the unique cultural identity of the Fatherland region.
Originating from the ancient land of Phu Tho, the belief in worshiping the Hung Kings has spread throughout the country. According to preliminary statistics, there are currently more than 1,410 relics dedicated to the Hung Kings and related to the Hung Kings era, spread across regions from north to south. Specifically, Phu Tho province alone has more than 340 relics associated with the worship of the Hung Kings.

A special highlight of Phu Tho tourism during this year’s Hung Kings' Death Anniversary is the event “The Fatherland Tourism Colors – Phu Tho 2025,” which will take place from April 3 to April 7 at Van Lang Park. As part of the event, numerous activities will be held to promote Phu Tho tourism, enhance tourism development links, and preserve and promote cultural heritage. “The Fatherland Tourism Colors” is an invitation for visitors to explore their origins, immerse themselves in nature, and enjoy the unique culture of Phu Tho.
During the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary and the Fatherland Culture and Tourism Week in 2025, the provincial tourism sector has partnered with tourism businesses and travel agencies to launch a series of promotional programs aimed at attracting visitors to Phu Tho. These programs include discounts of 20-50% on accommodation and dining services, and vouchers for free experiences such as Xoan singing, drum dancing, tea picking, making Hung Lo rice noodles, wrapping Banh Chung (sticky rice cakes), and pounding Banh Giay (round sticky rice cakes).
