On the morning of April 7, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a meeting with the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Street Folk Festival. Attendees included leaders from relevant departments and representatives from various communes and wards across the province.
Ms. Cao Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, concludes the meeting.
According to the plan, the 2026 Street Folk Festival, themed “Sounds of the Roots”, is scheduled to take place on April 24, 2026 (the 8th day of the third lunar month). This standout cultural activity aims to honor traditional values while promoting the image of the local land and people to domestic and international tourists.
The festival will feature a parade of 18 groups, each comprising 50 to 100 amateur performers. The procession will start from the intersection of Nguyen Tat Thanh and Hai Ba Trung streets (Thanh Mieu Ward) and head toward Van Lang Park. During the parade, each group will pause at the main grandstand for a 4-to-5-minute performance before continuing to the Hung Vuong Museum area, where the journey concludes.
According to the draft, the festival program consists of two parts. The Opening Ceremony will kick off with a unique national drum performance, creating a vibrant and exhilarating atmosphere. The Festival Segment, lasting approximately 90 minutes, features signature performances that recreate traditional rituals and legends, such as the Hung Temple Festival, the story of the Hung King teaching the people to plant rice, Xoan Singing, and the Tay Thien, Dinh Khenh, and Tro Tram festivals, alongside many other typical folk cultural traits from various localities.
During the meeting, delegates contributed heartfelt opinions to finalize the organizational plan. Discussions focused on ensuring public order, traffic safety, medical support, and environmental hygiene. There were also suggestions on enhancing the quality of performances, creative model designs, and stage production. Opinions emphasized that the festival should be organized efficiently and cost-effectively while maintaining its scale, appeal, and widespread impact.
Concluding the meeting, the leadership of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism emphasized that the Street Folk Festival is a vital event within the Hung Temple Festival series. Therefore, relevant units must proactively and actively implement their assigned tasks according to the plan.
Departments and localities are urged to coordinate closely in preparations, thoroughly review infrastructure and security plans, and invest meticulously in both content and presentation to showcase the unique cultural identity of each locality. This collective effort will contribute to a distinctive and impressive festival that attracts a large number of residents and tourists.
