Construction Accelerates on the Son Nam 110kV Transmission Line Project

Local authorities are stepping up land clearance efforts to ensure the Son Nam 110kV Transmission Line and Substation Project is completed on schedule. Strong public support, together with the proactive involvement of local governments and the project investor, has created favourable conditions for construction to accelerate.

Nearly 500 square metres of perennial cropland belonging to Tran Van Tan in Lap Thach Commune lies within the project’s transmission line safety corridor and has been cleared to facilitate construction. Dozens of fruit trees, timber trees, boundary walls, gates and paved yards were removed under the State’s compensation and support policy.

Although the project reduced his production area and affected his family’s daily life, Mr. Tan voluntarily handed over the land.

“I understand that electricity infrastructure is essential for socio-economic development. After receiving explanations and guidance from the local authorities, my family fully agreed with the compensation plan under current regulations and handed over the site so the project could proceed as soon as possible,” he said.

The section of the Son Nam 110kV Transmission Line and Substation Project passing through Lap Thach Commune is approximately 4.2 kilometres long and includes 20 transmission tower locations. Thanks to strong public support, the commune has largely completed land inventories, compensation plans and the necessary procedures to hand over cleared sites to the project investor.

According toVice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lap Thach Commune Truong Thanh Dung the local authority established dedicated working groups to visit every affected household, provide information, address concerns and encourage cooperation.

As a result, 100% of affected households have agreed to the compensation plans, while compensation payments and site handovers are proceeding according to schedule.

Land clearance is also progressing rapidly along the entire route. Wherever sites are handed over, contractors immediately mobilise workers and equipment to begin construction, ensuring there are no interruptions to the project schedule.

The Son Nam 110kV Transmission Line and Substation Project has a total investment of nearly VND 190 billion. The section located within Phu Tho Province extends for more than 16 kilometres, crossing four communes.

With the determination to overcome challenging weather conditions, workers are racing to complete tower foundations at cleared construction sites.

Working under the spirit of “overcoming sunshine and rain alike,” construction teams have completed excavation and foundation casting at 41 of the project’s 57 tower locations. Transmission towers and grounding systems have been installed at 35 of the 57 sites, while crews continue taking advantage of favourable weather to complete the remaining works.

According to Trinh Cao Cuong, Deputy Director of the Power Development Project Management Board under the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), the project management unit has maintained close coordination with local authorities to monitor daily progress in land handover.

As soon as compensation payments are completed for each foundation site, contractors are instructed to mobilise sufficient manpower, materials and specialised equipment to begin construction immediately.

“The key objective is to ensure there are no gaps or delays between land handover and construction, enabling the entire project to be completed safely and put into operation at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2026,” Mr. Cuong said.

The determination of engineers, technicians and construction workers, together with the strong support of local communities, is steadily transforming the project into reality. Tower foundations and steel structures rising across hillsides and valleys stand as visible evidence of close cooperation between government authorities and local residents.

As one of eight priority 110kV power grid projects currently under implementation in Phu Tho, the Son Nam 110kV Transmission Line and Substation Project will play a vital role once completed.

The project will significantly enhance regional power supply capacity, reduce pressure on the existing electricity network, meet growing residential and industrial electricity demand, and strengthen the province’s ability to attract investment while supporting long-term socio-economic development.
