Leveraging the abundant aquatic resources of the Da River, fish floss products from Hai Dang Group Co., Ltd. (Hoa Binh Ward) are steadily asserting their market position. As a signature OCOP (One Commune, One Product) specialty, this product is contributing to the enhanced value of local agricultural offerings.
Harnessing Advantages to Create Quality Products
The Da River reservoir is not only famous for its majestic scenery but also serves as a rich “storehouse” of fisheries. With clean water ideal for cage farming, Hai Dang Group has proactively collaborated with local households to build a stable raw material area. The company has invested in a value-chain linkage following VietGAP standards, ensuring strict food safety and hygiene to meet market demands. Currently, the company maintains approximately 200 cages, producing over 500 tons per year of various fish species, including Black Carp, Black Bagrid, and Yellow Bagrid. These species account for 70% of total output, ensuring a clean and traceable source of raw materials.
Hai Dang Group’s fish floss is processed from fresh catches harvested directly from cages in the Da River hydropower reservoir. The production follows a closed-loop process with rigorous safety stages: steaming, deboning, drying, and packaging. The fusion of traditional hand-crafted methods and modern technology helps the product retain its distinctive flavor: finely shredded, an eye-catching golden color, savory, and free of any fishy scent or preservatives. It offers a naturally sweet, balanced taste.
Currently, Hai Dang Group offers three varieties: Black Carp Floss, Black Bagrid Floss, and Yellow Bagrid Floss. The products are packaged in 100g glass jars, priced at 200,000 VND per jar, each featuring a QR code for origin traceability.

Hai Dang Group Co., Ltd. boasts three fish floss products recognized with 4-star OCOP certification.
Asserting a Premium 4-Star OCOP Status
Thanks to a focus on quality and professional packaging, Da River fish floss has achieved 4-star OCOP certification. This recognition serves as a vital springboard for the product to reach wider markets. Popular for being delicious and highly nutritious, the products are favored by consumers and distributed through clean-food store chains in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh, while gradually approaching customers via e-commerce platforms.
Beyond quality, the product wins over customers with its convenience. For many families, it is a perfect choice for children and the elderly. Ms. Nguyen Thị Hạnh (Thong Nhat Ward) shared: "The fish floss has a natural sweetness and a fluffy texture that is very easy to eat. I often use it for breakfast or choose it as a gift due to its beautiful packaging that carries the essence of regional specialties."
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Executive Director of Hai Dang Group, stated: "In the future, the enterprise will continue to expand production and diversify processed products from Da River fish, while perfecting criteria to upgrade our OCOP rating. Maintaining the linkage chain with fish farmers not only secures our raw materials but also creates jobs and increases income for local people, aiming for sustainable economic development."
From a rustic riverine specialty, Da River fish floss has been “given a new look,” becoming a high-value commodity. The journey of Hai Dang Group is a vivid testament to the right direction in developing agricultural products associated with local branding.
