Following the direction from the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee regarding the preparation of proposals for discussion at the 1st Congress of the Phu Tho Party Committee, for the 2025-2030 term, on the afternoon of September 22, Comrade Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a meeting to hear reports from the Department of Industry and Trade on the development plan for Phu Tho to become a regional logistics hub, and from the Provincial Industrial Zones (IZ) Management Board on the development of industrial zones in Phu Tho by 2030.
Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong chairing the meeting
The report from the Department of Industry and Trade and the feedback from delegates affirmed that, with its geographical advantages, the development of Phu Tho into a regional logistics center for the period 2026-2030, with a vision for 2050, is aligned with the national strategic direction. This plan leverages the province’s geographic advantages and resources to improve regional connectivity, boost economic development, and provide the driving force for Phu Tho to grow and expand.
The project aims to assess the current state of the logistics industry in Phu Tho, research best practices, and propose strategies to develop logistics in order to make Phu Tho a logistics hub in the northern midland and mountainous region. The goal is to make logistics services a key sector in the province’s economy, accounting for an increasing share of the GRDP. Additionally, the project seeks to enhance the province’s role as a key hub for domestic goods exchange and connect domestic markets with international markets.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong emphasized that this is one of the key tasks to concretize the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, for the 2025-2030 term, and aligns with the major directions from the Central Government regarding the development of logistics services.
Based on the research into regional connections between Phu Tho and neighboring provinces/ cities in the northern region, particularly the logistics development strategies and transportation infrastructure of adjacent provinces, the Department of Industry and Trade, together with relevant agencies, will continue to study and consolidate feedback from units and localities to develop a detailed proposal. This proposal must ensure comprehensiveness, feasibility, and alignment with the province’s socio-economic development plans and strategies.
Regarding the proposal for the development of industrial zones in Phu Tho by 2030, the Chairman agreed with the objective of building modern, sustainable, and integrated industrial zone infrastructure. This infrastructure will play a key role in the province’s growth after the merger, contributing to the economic restructuring of the province towards a modern industrial and service economy. It will increase productivity, add value, enhance budget revenue, create sustainable jobs, preserve the environment, and ensure national defense, security, and social order in areas with industrial zones. This will contribute to the successful implementation of the strategic breakthroughs outlined in the Resolution of the 1st Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. By 2030, the province aims to establish 29 new industrial zones, including at least one high-tech industrial zone and striving to build one ecological industrial zone.
