On the morning of December 23, Ms. Phung Thi Kim Nga – Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, presided over a meeting to review the report from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism regarding the organization of the Hung Kings' Commemoration and Ancestral Land Culture - Tourism Week of the Fire Horse (2026).

According to the plan, the event will be held on a provincial scale from April 17 to April 26, 2026 (corresponding to the 1st to the 10th day of the third lunar month). The festivities will take place in Hy Cuong Commune, the Hung Kings Temple Historic Site, and various communes and wards across the province, featuring both traditional rituals and festive activities.
The ceremonial part includes: Offering incense to commemorate the Hung Kings; the Commemoration Ceremony for National Ancestor Lac Long Quan, offering incense to commemorate Ancestral Mother Au Co; procession of palanquins in the communes and wards around the Hung Temple area; the Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony and flower offering at the relief sculpture “President Ho Chi Minh speaking with officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Division”.
The festival section features many new elements compared to previous years due to the expanded cultural space after the merger, including: the opening ceremony of the Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week; the Hung Vuong Fair; a cultural camp; exhibition and promotional activities; a folk art festival; performances of ancient Xoan singing, Muong gong music, Thai culture, and other cultural, sports, and tourism activities.
The festive activities will be closely integrated with tourism, creating a sequence of “Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism” events. These activities are designed to showcase unique cultural identities, enhance tourism appeal, and broadly promote the potential, strengths, and cultural tourism resources of Phu Tho.
In her concluding remarks, Vice Chairwoman Phung Thi Kim Nga emphasized that the Hung Kings Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week in 2026 holds vital significance in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values of the Ancestral Land. She requested departments, sectors, and localities to strictly adhere to the plan, focus on serious leadership, and assign tasks with clear roles, responsibilities, and systematic procedures to ensure the ceremonies are conducted with solemnity, grandeur, deep reverence, and a strong sense of community.
Regarding the festival, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested that it should be organized in a solemn and economical manner, showcasing the unique cultural identity of the province, ensuring a harmonious blend of cultures from the three regions to create a new cultural highlight of the Ancestral Land, so that the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week become a festival for people in the province and the whole country.
Based on the feedback from various departments, the Vice Chairwoman tasked the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism with finalizing the organizational plan to serve as a framework for units to develop their specific implementation strategies.
