Surveying the Current State of Historical Relics in Thanh Mieu Ward

On the afternoon of July 21, a delegation from the Provincial Monument Evaluation Council, led by Comrade Duong Hoang Huong—Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism—conducted a field survey on the status of several historical and cultural relics in Thanh Mieu Ward. The survey aimed to assess their condition and propose solutions for preservation, restoration, and promotion of their values.

The delegation surveyed Trung Hau Communal House (Quyet Tien residential group), as well as Trang Vang Communal House and Trang Vang Shrine (Ha Giap residential group). Observations showed that Trung Hau Communal House—a provincial-level historical and cultural relic covering an area of 6,230.2 m2—has deteriorated in many areas. The entire rear roof is damaged, the surrounding courtyard and ground show signs of subsidence, and the lighting system fails to meet operational needs. Auxiliary structures such as the offering preparation house, kitchen, and restrooms are degraded, and a ceremonial gate has yet to be built for the site.

Trang Vang Communal House covers an area of 2,748.7 m2. Its perimeter walls are cracked, and structural elements including tie-beams, longitudinal purlins, and crossbeams are decayed and termite-infested, with large cracks appearing on the wall surfaces. The site also lacks a surrounding drainage system, posing a risk of localized flooding during heavy, prolonged rains.

Regarding Trang Vang Shrine, which covers 1,300 m2, there remains a main worship shrine of about 30 m2. Its load-bearing structure and roofing system are generally in good condition, while the perimeter walls, doors, and courtyard remain intact. However, auxiliary facilities to serve religious activities and accommodate local residents and visitors have not yet been built.

Following the physical inspection, the working group evaluated that all the relics hold significant historical and cultural value, reflecting the spiritual life and traditions of the local community. However, many components have degraded; if not promptly restored and repaired, structural safety and the preservation of heritage values will be compromised.

The delegation requested that local authorities coordinate with specialized agencies to review and complete the documentation of current conditions, prioritizing severely degraded structures. This will serve to report and propose restoration plans under the province’s support mechanism for investment, restoration, renovation, and rehabilitation of ranked historical sites for the 2026–2030 period. These efforts will contribute to strengthening management, protection, and promotion of the relics' values alongside local historical and cultural education.
