Huong Can commune, Thanh Son district, conducted the Khoang Communal House festival on February 24 (lunar January 15) in 2024.
Khoang Communal House is the spot to worship Tan Vien Mountain Saint and his mother, Holy Mother Dinh Thi Den. Tan Vien Mountain Saint named Cao Son (also known as Nguyen Tuan). He is a hero who vanquished the enemy while also teaching people how to build dikes, combat floods, and produce wet rice. He is the 18th Hung King’s son-in-law, a saint among the “Four Immortals” and the “Supreme deity spirit” in Vietnamese folklore. Khoang Communal House was recognized as a cultural and historical relic at the province level in 2013.

Khoang Communal House festival follows ancient practices. Following the palanquin procession and sacrifice ceremony with the wish to pray for good rain, good winds, good crops, and for every home to be prosperous and happy, the festival includes many cultural activities and folk games such as Seng Tien dance, gong performance, swing, Dam Duong dance, cultural exchanges, football competitions, volleyball, crossbow shooting, tug of war... The festival features cultural activities, sports, and camps over three days, from February 22 to 24.

This year festival was chosen by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to conserve and promote the traditional celebration in accordance with the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountain Areas.
