Petrolimex Phu Tho Celebrates 70 Years of Strategic Energy Footprint and Corporate Resilience

On the afternoon of June 12, 2026, Petrolimex Phu Tho One Member Company Limited (Petrolimex Phu Tho) hosted a landmark ceremony marking its 70th anniversary of establishment (June 12, 1956 – June 12, 2026). The grand assembly celebrated seven decades of the company’s dual mandate: driving commercial fuel leadership and safeguarding regional energy security.

The high-protocol event was attended by Provincial Governor Tran Duy Dong—Alternate Member of the Central Party Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen—former Minister of Trade and former Director General of Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex); Vice Governor Phung Thi Kim Nga; and Mr. Pham Van Thanh—Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrolimex, alongside former corporate executives and directors of line ministries.

Opening the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Dao, Party Secretary and Chairman of Petrolimex Phu Tho, affirmed that the 70-year evolutionary path of the company has remained inextricably linked to the socio-economic transformations of the ancestral land of Phu Tho and the broader growth of Vietnam’s petroleum sector.

Originating as the Viet Tri Petroleum Wholesale and Retail Station established under the Ministry of Commerce in 1956, the company’s workforce courageously defended fuel depots and distribution lifelines during wartime resistance to supply production and combat sectors. Following national reunification, the enterprise continuously expanded its commercial grid, injected heavy capital into modern storage infrastructure, and upscaled service quality.

A critical structural turning point arrived in 2025. Under Petrolimex’s structural rationalization directive, Petrolimex Vĩnh Phúc and the Hòa Bình Petroleum Branch were officially integrated into Petrolimex Phu Tho. This consolidation opened a new era of unprecedented scale and enhanced operational capacity for the subsidiary.

Today, Petrolimex Phu Tho has matured into a regional market titan, operating two strategic fuel storage depots—Viet Tri and Phu Duc—boasting a total capacity of 15,000 cubic meters. The company commands a dedicated workforce of 800 professionals. Its downstream distribution network comprises 127 wholly-owned retail petroleum stations alongside 118 franchise stations operated by 80 authorized retail dealers. This extensive infrastructure forms an ironclad supply network that drives commercial industries, protects national defense operations, and serves civilian livelihoods.

Financially, during the 2016–2025 decade, Petrolimex Phu Tho dedicated over 15 billion VND to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social welfare initiatives. In 2025, the company generated a record revenue surpassing 8,200 billion VND. This milestone was backed by a total petroleum sales volume of 500,000 cubic meters, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) output of 3,700 tons, and 1,060 tons of lubricants, contributing 825 billion VND to the state treasury. Consequently, the company firmly maintains its market-dominant position, controlling over 60% of the regional petroleum market share.

Moving forward, Petrolimex Phu Tho is rigidly pursuing its strategic “Triple Transformation” roadmap, which centers on digital transformation, green transition, and organizational-corporate culture renewal. The ultimate objective is to forge Petrolimex Phu Tho into a modernized energy enterprise that secures sustainable growth, anchors its position as the market vanguard of the Northern Mid-lands and Mountainous Region, and fulfills its mission as the primary custodian of energy security in the province.

Extending their congratulations, Governor Tran Duy Dong and Petrolimex Chairman Pham Van Thanh highly commended the company’s historic milestones. To preserve its legacy as a Heroic Unit, they ordered the company to reinforce its vanguard role as the primary energy pillar. The company must sharpen its market forecasting and corporate risk management, optimize its logistics systems, and secure stable, unconditional fuel supplies across all strategic scenarios.

Furthermore, Petrolimex Phu Tho was instructed to pioneer the green energy transition by aligning with the government’s carbon-neutral roadmaps. This includes aggressively expanding the commercialization of next-generation biofuels (such as E10 ethanol blended gasoline) and implementing carbon-reduction solutions. Concurrently, the enterprise must accelerate full-scale digitization across its administrative frameworks, modernize technical storage infrastructures, enforce strict compliance with e-invoicing laws, and uphold absolute protocols for environmental safety and fire prevention.

Governor Tran Duy Dong uniquely reminded the company to continuously marry commercial success with humanitarian values. By contributing an additional 3 billion VND directly to the Phu Tho Social Welfare Fund during the event, Petrolimex Phu Tho further demonstrated its commitment to standing at the forefront of gratitude programs and supporting vulnerable communities, cementing its identity as a highly compassionate, national-brand enterprise.
