According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, for the 2021–2025 period, the province has focused on developing specialty pomelo varieties, building brands, and establishing Geographical Indications (GI). Currently, the area of pomelo production following safety standards has reached over 3,100 hectares. Of this, 1,906 hectares are VietGAP certified, 58 hectares are organic, and 102 hectares meet GlobalGAP standards. The application rate of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) has reached 93.9%.
Within the Geographical Indication zone, Bang Luan specialty pomelos are cultivated under safety-oriented practices to serve export goals.
Notably, the Doan Hung specialty pomelo is an agricultural product granted a Geographical Indication and has been thrice honored as a “Vietnam Agricultural Gold Brand,” affirming its sustainable value and potential for export to the EU and US markets.
Additionally, Cao Phong oranges have been granted a Geographical Indication, benefiting 5 collective economic organizations, 1 business establishment, and over 2,000 orange-growing households. The output of oranges using the GI label reaches over 4,000 tons per year, accounting for approximately 12.5% of the total regional production. Cao Phong oranges are available in major distribution systems such as Big C, VinMart, and Metro, and have been exported to the United Kingdom—a market with stringent requirements for food safety and traceability.
These two branded agricultural products serve as a vital foundation for developing commercial agriculture and OCOP (One Commune, One Product) goods, integrated with agritourism and experiential tourism.
