In recent years, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho Province has paid close attention to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values.
Millions of residents and visitors return to the Ancestral Land to offer incense and practice the belief in worshiping the Hung Kings.
To date, Phu Tho Province is home to nearly 2.000 intangible cultural heritages. Among them, five have been recognized by UNESCO, including two inscribed as representative heritage of the province: The Belief in Worship of the Hung Kings in Phu Tho and Xoan Singing of Phu Tho. Three others are part of multinational nominations in which Phu Tho is a contributing locality: Tug-of-War Rituals and Games, Ca Tru Singing of the Vietnamese, and Practices Related to the Vietnamese Belief in the Three Palaces. The province also has 41 national intangible cultural heritages.
In the period 2021-2025, the province has allocated 1.1 trillion VND for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values. Management and preservation efforts are increasingly linked with promoting heritage as a means of educating patriotic traditions, fostering national pride, and boosting tourism development, thereby contributing to the province’s socio-economic growth.
