Currently, Phu Tho province is mobilizing its entire political system to implement preparations for the Hung Kings' Commemoration - Hung Kings Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week 2026. With the goal of organizing a solemn, meaningful, and absolutely safe festival that deeply reflects national cultural identity, relevant units from the provincial to local levels are rushing to welcome compatriots and tourists returning to pay tribute to their ancestors, embodying the Vietnamese tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source."
The Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site is beautifully decorated in preparation for the Hung Kings' Commemoration - Hung Kings Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week 2026.
At the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site—the “heart” of the festival—efforts are intensely focused on landscaping and upgrading facilities. The site will host key ceremonial activities, including: Incense-offering ceremonies by local communes and wards, the Commemoration of Father Lac Long Quan and incense offerings to Mother Au Co, Palanquin processions by surrounding communities, the official Hung Kings’ Commemoration ceremony and a flower offering at the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Pioneer Army Division."
Accompanying the formal rites is a vibrant festival section featuring diverse cultural and artistic activities, such as: the Cultural Camp; contests for wrapping and cooking Banh Chung and pounding Banh Giay; mass art festivals; dragon and lion dances; Muong cultural performances including bronze drum playing and “Dam Duong”; and traditional musical instrument showcases.
Following the Organizing Committee’s directives, the Relic Site management is accelerating the renovation of guesthouses, installing propaganda panels, and adding flexible traffic signages. To ensure a green, clean, and beautiful cultural space, additional flowers and ornamental plants are being planted at the main temple entrance and the central festival courtyard. Simultaneously, all electrical, water, and public sanitation systems are undergoing maintenance.
Coordinated Multi-Sectoral Involvement Serving as the standing agency of the Organizing Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is playing a pivotal role. Mr. Duong Hoang Huong, Director of the Department, stated that the agency has advised the Provincial People’s Committee on the master plan and established a leadership structure for the entire event. To date, specific tasks have been assigned to all committee members, stage designs and scripts for the opening arts program have been approved, and regulations for key sports events—such as the swimming race on Van Lang Park Lake—have been finalized. Visual propaganda is also being synchronized with the design of panels, banners, and flags to encourage business participation.
Other sectors are also contributing with high responsibility. The Provincial Police have drafted a comprehensive plan to ensure security and order. The Provincial Inspectorate is coordinating inter-disciplinary teams to monitor cultural services, accommodation, food safety, and environmental hygiene. Meanwhile, the Department of Industry and Trade is directing market management forces to supervise service activities and ensure quality service for visitors.
A Festival of National Solidarity The Organizing Committee emphasized that this event holds significant importance following the province’s recent administrative merger. All departments and localities are urged to promote communication across all platforms. Simultaneously, plans for security, traffic safety, fire prevention, and market management are being implemented at the highest level to stabilize prices and service quality, fostering a friendly and hospitable image of Phu Tho for domestic and international visitors.
With proactive and methodical preparation, the Hung Kings' Commemoration 2026 promises to be a convergence of national cultural essence. The integration of culture, sports, and tourism will meet the experiential needs of the people while driving local economic development. This event truly serves as a festival of solidarity for those carrying the “Lac Hong” bloodline, educating on patriotism, expressing gratitude to the Hung Kings and ancestors, and consolidating the strength of national great unity.
