Phu Tho is considered a land of festivals, where traditional folk festivals still retain their own identities and characteristics such as: International Temple Traditional Festival (Thanh Thuy district); Tru Mat Temple Festival (Phu Tho town); Van Luong Temple Festival, Festival of Hung Kings teaching people to cultivate rice (Viet Tri city); Ba Nha Temple Festival (Phu Ninh district); Ngoc Tan Communal House Festival (Doan Hung district); Gia Du Communal House Festival, Quang Huc Communal House Festival (Tam Nong district)...
To help people and tourists understand more about the cultural identity of the Fatherland through festivals, the Organizing Committee has promoted propaganda and introduction about the origins of the festivals, relics and characters worshiped and honored; as well as about the true values and meanings of traditional beliefs and rituals.
There are many festivals that have been recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritages such as: Du Yen Temple Festival (Thanh Ba district); Forest Opening Ceremony of Muong people (Yen Lap district); Lang Suong Temple Festival, Dao Xa Communal House Festival (Thanh Thuy district); Princess Procession Festival, Tro Tram Festival (Lam Thao district); Hung Lo Communal House Festival, Tam Giang Temple Festival (Viet Tri city), Chu Hung Temple Festival (Ha Hoa district)...
In 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to include 36 heritage sites in the list of national intangible cultural heritages, including three heritage sites of Phu Tho, namely Du Yen Temple Festival, Thanh Hoa district. Father; Princess Procession Festival, Lam Thao district and Forest Opening Ceremony of Muong people, Yen Lap district. Along with preserving traditional cultural values, the organization of festivals has had many innovations to suit the conditions of each locality, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people. The festivals are fully organized with both ceremony and festival parts. Particularly, the festival parts are held with many rich and diverse activities such as: contests of wrapping and cooking Banh chung, pounding banh giay; Swinging, fire-setting and rice-blowing competitions, folk games, sports competitions, crossbow shooting, creating a joyful atmosphere to serve Spring tourists.
To strengthen the management and organization of festival activities to ensure proper traditional rituals, creating a joyful, exciting, safe, healthy, and economical atmosphere, according to the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Dac Thuy, implementing Directive No. 30/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, Official Letter of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Provincial People’s Committee on strengthening the management and organization of cultural, sports, tourism activities and festivals to celebrate the Year of Dragon 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a written request to the People’s Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct and perform well the management and organization of festivals according to the regulations and implement a civilized lifestyle during festivals; Propagate and mobilize to raise awareness and responsibility of people and tourists to seriously implement the State’s regulations on organizing festivals, on the origin of festivals, relics, and worshiped characters; ensure good food safety, hygiene and environmental sanitation; not to organize festivals with objectionable and violent elements, violent rituals, superstitions, and ensure good security and order in the festival site ...
