On November 8, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism organized a training course on professional skills, methods, and preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of Xoan Singing in Phu Tho for over 100 trainees.
The participants included officials and civil servants from the Department of Culture and Information; Centers for Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Centers for Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Communications of districts, towns, and cities; cultural officers of communes, wards, and towns with Xoan Singing and Phu Tho folk songs clubs at the provincial level; Xoan Singing leaders; and heads of Xoan Singing and Phu Tho folk song clubs.
During the training, the trainees were introduced to the value of Xoan Singing heritage in Phu Tho, the connection between the worship of Hung Kings and Xoan Singing, and the management, preservation, and promotion of the Xoan Singing heritage in community tourism development and contemporary life by Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Toan, former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Music.
Additionally, People’s Artisan Nguyen Thi Lich, leader of the An Thai Xoan Singing group (Phuong Lau commune, Viet Tri City), shared her experience in organizing, recruiting members, and methods for teaching and passing on Xoan Singing practices from original Xoan Singing villages and clubs of Xoan Singing and Phu Tho folk songs.
