With its rich ecological landscape, diverse culture, and unique ethnic customs, Binh Tuyen Commune is harnessing its natural and cultural advantages to develop cultural, spiritual, and ecological tourism, serving as a key driver of local economic growth.
Formed through the merger of Trung My and Ba Hien communes, Binh Tuyen is blessed with captivating natural scenery and a well-preserved cultural heritage, particularly that of the San Diu ethnic group. Building on these strengths, the commune has been actively developing spiritual tourism around historical and cultural relics such as the Thanh Lanh–Ngoc Boi site and the Thanh Quan Heo relic site.
Visitors to Binh Tuyen can explore a system of ancient and sacred temples, Ha Temple, Trung Temple, and Thuong Temple, while immersing themselves in pristine nature and enjoying the fresh, invigorating air of the Thanh Lanh Lake complex and Ba Ao Waterfall (also known as Tien Ba Ho). The Nam Tam Dao Ecotourism Area is especially appealing to adventure seekers and backpackers, offering rugged mountainous terrain and untouched natural beauty.
In recent years, Binh Tuyen has taken significant steps toward improving tourism infrastructure and has begun attracting businesses to invest in the sector.
With a culturally rich community made up of 16 ethnic groups, including San Diu, Cao Lan, and Kinh—the commune is positioning itself as a destination for cultural exploration and experiential tourism. Under the Homestay Development and San Diu Cultural Preservation Plan (2021–2025) and the Tourism Development Project (2020–2025, with a vision to 2030), Binh Tuyen is set to establish a San Diu Ethnic Cultural Tourism Village across three hamlets: Trung Mau, Dong Giang, and Thanh Lanh, covering a total of 45 hectares.
The village will be developed as a comprehensive cultural and ecotourism destination. Tourists will have the opportunity to experience local cuisine and regional specialties, explore traditional San Diu-style houses, visit a cultural house and museum exhibiting precious ethnic artifacts, and stay in homestay-style accommodations. The goal is to make Binh Tuyen an ideal destination for weekend getaways, holidays, and Tet (Lunar New Year) retreats.
In Binh Tuyen, travelers can enjoy authentic cultural immersion: listening to traditional Soong Co folk songs performed by the San Diu people in the peaceful countryside and sampling signature dishes such as Chuc Lip (a herbal porridge), black sticky rice, humped Chung cake, Gio cake, and ant egg cake.
According to Ms. Kim Van Ngoan Quynh, Secretary of Binh Tuyen Commune, while the area holds considerable potential for tourism development, the sector remains largely spontaneous and underdeveloped, apart from the Thanh Lanh Golf Course project within the Nam Tam Dao Ecotourism Area. Most tourism activities currently cater only to transient visitors. In response, the commune is not only raising public awareness of the value of tourism for socio-economic development but also focusing resources on improving service facilities and infrastructure.
To unlock Binh Tuyen’s full tourism potential, local leaders are calling on provincial authorities to continue investing in infrastructure and accelerating the implementation of approved economic and tourism development projects. Alongside tourism, the commune is also promoting trade, services, and industrial development to improve local living standards.
With the right policies, strong leadership, public consensus, and active participation from investors, Binh Tuyen is poised to become a vibrant tourism hub, connected with key destinations such as Dai Lai, Tam Dao, and Tay Thien, and part of a high-quality, integrated tourism, cultural, and entertainment network.
