In anticipation of the Hung Kings' Commemoration - Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week 2026, localities across the province are actively implementing preparatory activities with a spirit of urgency and high responsibility. The atmosphere of rehearsal and competition is spreading from the grassroots level, reflecting the proactive consensus of authorities and the people in organizing this major national event.

The mass arts troupe of Cluster No. 5 is actively rehearsing to participate in the mass arts festival and the street folk culture festival as part of the 2026 Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week.
According to the plan, communes and wards across the province are organized into 18 clusters to participate in festival activities. Based on their assignments, these clusters have developed detailed plans, clearly defining tasks for each locality to ensure smooth and effective coordination. From selecting participants and scripting programs to preparing costumes and props, everything is being implemented systematically.
In Cluster No. 5, led by Thanh Son Commune, preparations have been meticulous. Member communes—including Lai Dong, Tan Son, Xuan Dai, Kha Cuu, Yen Son, Vo Mieu, Minh Dai, and Cu Dong—are actively rehearsing for core activities such as the mass arts festival and the street folk culture festival. These days, community houses and stadiums are filled with the vibrant sounds of music and singing.
Mr. Quang Tien, Chairman of the Thanh Son Commune People’s Committee, noted that the highlight for Cluster 5 this year is the performance of the Thach Khoan Communal House Festival by the Muong ethnic people, combined with Gong performances and “cham ong” (bamboo tube percussion).
The ritual part will be conducted solemnly with palanquin processions and incense offerings to express gratitude to ancestors and pray for national peace and a bountiful harvest. The festive part will be imbued with folk colors, featuring the resonating sounds of Gongs and the unique rhythm of bamboo tubes, vividly recreating the labor and community life of the Muong people. Additionally, props such as traditional stilt houses, terraced fields, and tea hills will be showcased to promote the culture and people of Thanh Son and Phu Tho to visitors.
In addition to cultural performances, the Banh Chung and Banh Giay making competition—a traditional beauty linked to the Hung Kings' worship—is being carefully prepared. Cluster No. 6 has selected Hung Viet and Thuong Long communes to participate. These localities are known for their traditional products, including those recognized with OCOP (One Commune, One Product) certifications.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh, a representative of the Cluster 6 team, shared that teams consist of experienced and skillful members who practice regularly to ensure seamless coordination. Every step—from selecting ingredients and wrapping to cooking and pounding—is emphasized to meet criteria for timing, aesthetics, and quality. The ultimate goal is the honor of offering these meaningful cakes to the Hung Kings.
Localities are also preparing for the exhibition and promotion of OCOP products, the construction of cultural camps, and the introduction of traditional living spaces of ethnic minorities. Folk sports are also being practiced, ready for competition to create a joyful and united atmosphere throughout the festival.
To date, with the synchronized involvement of all levels and the community, preparations for the 2026 Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week are essentially complete. This elaborate and thoughtful preparation promises to bring visitors a unique and impressive cultural experience, affirming the enduring value of the Ancestral Land’s heritage and fostering national pride among domestic and international friends.
