On November 10, at Van Luong Temple (Area 7, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City), the People’s Committee of Van Phu Ward, in collaboration with the construction unit, organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration and renovation project of the Van Luong historical relic.
Van Luong Temple is a National Historical Site dedicated to the Hung Kings, located within the Hung Kings Temple complex. It is a place of worship for the spirits of the Hung Kings, as well as three important generals: Cao Son Dai Vuong, At Son Dai Vuong, and Vien Son Dai Vuong; the deity Tan Vien Son Thanh; and the two village deities. The temple was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism as a National Cultural Heritage for its architectural significance in 2009, and the Van Luong Festival – a festival involving “Cuop bong” (flower stealing) and “Nem chai” (throwing stones) – was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022.
After enduring many historical ups and downs, the temple is now in a state of severe deterioration. Realizing the urgency of restoring and preserving the site to support community activities, on September 20, 2023, the People’s Committee of Viet Tri City approved the project “Restoration and Renovation of the Van Luong Historical Relic, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City” under Decision No. 3473/QD-UBND.
The project is invested by the People’s Committee of Van Phu Ward, with a total construction cost of over 9.7 billion VND, funded by the State budget, socialized funds, and other legal funding sources. The restoration work will include the renovation of the Management House, the temple, the kitchen, the side gate, the incense offering altar, the garden system, and the surrounding walls. The project is scheduled to be completed from 2023 to 2026.
