Hung Temple Historic Site Ready to Welcome Compatriots and Tourists for the Ancestor’s Anniversary

In the early days of April, preparations for the Hung Kings' Commemoration - Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week 2026 are being carried out urgently and systematically. With the goal of providing a thoughtful, safe, and civilized experience for pilgrims, all tasks—from festival organization to infrastructure upgrades—are nearing completion.

According to Mr. Pham Tien Dat, Director of the Hung Temple Historic Site, following the directives of the Provincial People’s Committee, the site has proactively planned various unique cultural activities. Highlights include the inaugural Banh Chung and Banh Giay making competition, palanquin processions, lion and dragon dances, bronze drum performances, and traditional folk music.

Crucial rituals, such as the Commemoration of Father Lạc Long Quân, the Incense Offering to Mother Âu Cơ, and the Tribute to the Hung Kings, are being finalized to ensure solemnity and adherence to tradition.

Contractors are urgently finishing the restoration and embellishment of the Public Guest House.

Infrastructure projects serving the festival are being fast-tracked. Notably, the restoration of the Public Guest House—a significant structure within the relic complex—is largely complete. Built on its original foundation, the project preserves the traditional octagonal architecture using high-quality Erythrophleum fordii (lim wood) for durability and aesthetic value. The interior features traditional “bat” bricks, while the railings are crafted from natural stone.

The project is expected to be operational before the festival’s opening on April 17, 2026, providing a dignified space for visitors and pilgrims.

In parallel, a series of other items are being implemented, including the installation of LED screens, promotional panels, and traffic signboards; the upgrading of electricity and water systems; and the renovation of public restrooms. Commercial service areas have been reorganized to be more orderly and civilized, while the management of electric shuttle buses for transporting tourists within the relic site has been strengthened.

Comprehensive safety measures are a top priority. The infrastructure has been bolstered with additional trash bins and fire safety warning signs.

Significantly, medical stations staffed with doctors and nurses will be stationed at all temples throughout the 10-day festival. Ambulances and specialized medical equipment are also positioned at key locations to handle emergencies.

To enhance the festive atmosphere, over 300 panels and 1,000 flags have been installed. Modern touches like QR code stands allow tourists to easily access festival information. Entrance ways are equipped with parking directions and hotline numbers for security, emergency medical aid, and lost property assistance.

With thorough and comprehensive preparations, the Hung Temple Historic Site is fully prepared to welcome the nation and international guests back to their roots for the 2026 Commemoration, further spreading the profound cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
