Mo Chu Ha villagers celebrates their traditional festival
The 2024 Mo Chu Ha Village Traditional Festival was held on February 18 and 19 (Lunar January 9th and 10th) at Bach Hac Ward, Viet Tri City.
The Mo Chu Ha Communal House worships King Le Dai Hanh (also known as Le Hoan). Legend has it that during our people’s war against the Song army, General Le Hoan once ordered his forces to go to Mo Chu Ha hamlet when it was dark and both men and horses were exhausted. The king allowed the warriors to rest. The next morning, the people pounded giay cake and presented it to the king as nourishment (it was the tenth day of the first lunar month). Because of the giay cakes, the soldiers were invigorated to battle the enemy. In the year 1006, King Le died. To demonstrate their appreciation for the wise king who was close and harmonious with the people when stationed in the village, the villagers of Mo Chu Ha sculpted sculptures, put up tablets, and incense bowls to worship him as Village Thanh Hoang. Every year on the 9th and 10th of January, people arrange traditional celebrations, participate in pounding giay cake, and hold games to celebrate King Le Dai Hanh’s contributions to the war against foreign invaders.
Within the scope of the 2024 Festival, the inhabitants of Mo Chu Ha hamlet performed the traditional ceremony and presented incense to pray for good weather, excellent crops, and prosperity.
The water procession ritual and the giay cake contest in the village are highlights of the festival. There are also cultural and athletic exchange events to maintain traditions and build a sense of unity and connection.
