On August 10, in Hanoi, a delegation of leaders representing the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Tho Province, led by Comrade Tran Duy Dong — Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) — paid their respects to President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Saysomphone Phomvihane, at the Lao Embassy.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere at the ceremony, PPC Chairman Tran Duy Dong and the Phu Tho provincial delegation laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence for Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane — Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR.

Writing in the condolence book at the ceremony, PPC Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed infinite sorrow over the passing of the late Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane. He affirmed that the Lao National Assembly President was a senior leader of the Party, State, and People of Laos, as well as a great and close friend of Vietnam, including Phu Tho Province.

According to the message written in the condolence book, Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane made numerous crucial contributions to the cause of building, defending, and developing Laos. His passing is a immense loss to the Party, State, National Assembly, and People of all ethnic groups in Laos. At the same time, Vietnam has lost a great friend and a loyal comrade who made significant contributions to consolidating and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic bond between Vietnam and Laos.

Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane was born on December 12, 1956, and passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 70. To mourn Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold a State Mourning for him for two days, from August 10 to August 11.
