Phu Tho tourism on the rise

In 2023, tourism in Phu Tho continued to improve by welcoming 776,000 visitors, including 8,860 international visitors, bringing service revenue of about VND3,365 billion. Particularly during the Lunar New Year 2024, tourism activities across the province are taking place enthusiastically, signaling a promising year for the province’s tourism in the context of the forecast economic situation remaining difficult.

The number of tourists increased sharply

In January 2024, the number of tourists increased sharply at the Great Mother Au Co Temple in Hien Luong commune, Ha Hoa district. On the opening day of the festival, thousands of people across the country came to offer incense and pray.

In addition to the ceremony with traditional rituals, this year’s Great Mother Au Co Temple Festival also holds many cultural, artistic, and sports activities, etc. to preserve and promote cultural identity and traditions of solidarity.

In addition to the Great Mother Au Co Temple, a number of other tourist attractions also attract many tourists and people to visit during Tet such as: Hung King Temple Historical Relic Area, Lang Suong Temple, Tam Giang Temple, Thanh Thuy hot mineral water area, Viet Tri city, etc.

To increase attraction and create new experiences for tourists, localities also proactively organize many activities, at the same time, ensuring security, order, traffic safety, fire prevention and hygiene environment... This has created clear changes in the number of tourists coming to Phu Tho.

If Dat To tourism welcomed 776,000 visitors with service revenue reaching about VND3,365 billion in 2023, then only during Tet 2024, the province welcomed 564 thousand visitors, an increase of nearly three times compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, the number of guests was estimated at 11,180, the average room capacity was estimated at more than 45% at the accommodation system, bringing tourism service revenue of about VND121.8 billion.

The first group of international visitors in 2024 came to see and experience Xoan singing at Hung Lo communal house, Hung Lo commune, Viet Tri city.

Various opportunity to break through

During Tet 2024 only, cultural, sports and tourism activities in the province took place vibrantly, attracting a large number of tourists, contributing to positive revenue growth. Besides, the province also welcomed the first foreign tourist groups in 2024 to visit and experience the province’s typical tourist destinations.

In 2024, the ancestral land tourism aims to welcome 800,000 visitors, including 8,860 international visitors, with the expectation of bringing in more than VND3,700 billion in revenue. With the role of team leader of the tourism cooperation between eight extended northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, association with the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, Visit Vietnam Year - Dien Bien (May 7, 1954 - 2024 ) held in Dien Bien province in the near future will open up many favorable opportunities for Phu Tho to promote the development of typical tourism products of the region closer to domestic people and international tourists.

In addition to promoting tourism at major regional and national events, the provincial tourism sector will continue to develop tourism associated with preserving and promoting regional cultural and historical values; forming the tourism brand “Phu Tho - Returning to national origin”.

At the same time, promoting cooperation in tourism development to improve the quality of human resource training.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Thuy, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: “At this year’s Hung King Temple Festival, the Department will advise the Provincial People’s Committee and proactively plan to organize cultural, sports and tourism activities towards the nation’s origin. This is an opportunity not only to affirm the value of the worship of Hung King and Hung King’s death anniversary but also for the province to welcome millions of compatriots and tourists to visit Hung King Temple.

The sector will also focus on improving the quality of tourism products and services, and the quality of human resources associated with the application of 4.0 information technology and digital transformation. Thereby, priority is given to the development of exploration, relaxation and sports tourism.

At the same time, strengthening propaganda and promoting the image of Phu Tho culture and people through large travel agencies and mass media to attract the attention of tourists and investors. Thereby, maximizing the potential to create a brand and bring the province’s tourism to develop quickly, effectively and sustainably, aiming to make Phu Tho become the tourism center of the region, meeting the requirements of tourism development in the process of international economic integration".
