In recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively collaborated with relevant agencies and organizations to promote e-commerce development, enabling enterprises and cooperatives to enhance production and business activities while expanding their market reach.

Phu Tho province has witnessed significant improvements in information technology infrastructure, particularly in e-commerce-related services. Enterprises and cooperatives have proactively embraced innovation by increasing investment in technology, applying e-commerce solutions in production and business, and exploring new markets for product distribution. These efforts have contributed to improved operational efficiency and expanded market access.
The Department of Industry and Trade has worked closely with relevant units to raise awareness, disseminate information, and enhance e-commerce application skills among businesses and local communities. Training programs on digital transformation and e-commerce adoption have been conducted for business managers, cooperative leaders, production facility owners, and farmer association members. As a result, public awareness has been significantly heightened, and human resources for e-commerce have been developed.
Additionally, the department has focused on supporting businesses in implementing e-commerce solutions. In 2024, the department facilitated the development of five brand identities, allowing enterprises and cooperatives to optimize costs and enhance communication efficiency. Furthermore, QR code traceability software was developed for six agricultural production units, enabling transparent disclosure of product information from production to consumption. This initiative has helped businesses adopt modern management practices, meet domestic market requirements, and comply with export standards.
Simultaneously, the department continues to expand the membership of the Phu Tho Provincial E-Commerce Exchange (giaothuong.net.vn), providing support for businesses to showcase their products and services online. Promotional campaigns have been launched via mass media to raise awareness about the platform. As of now, the exchange hosts 333 online booths featuring 1,013 products and services, marking an increase of 18 booths and 51 products since December 2023.
Furthermore, authorities are closely monitoring e-commerce service providers and online retail websites registered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This oversight ensures compliance and facilitates coordination with the Tax Department of Region VIII for effective tax management. Currently, Phu Tho province has two registered e-commerce service providers and 85 e-commerce retail websites operating in accordance with regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of Da Hen Tea Production and Processing Cooperative, Cam Khe District, stated:
“After Da Hen tea products received 3-star and 4-star OCOP certifications, we have continuously improved product quality and invested in packaging, logos, and traceability stamps to cater to consumer preferences. Additionally, we have expanded online sales through e-commerce platforms and social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok Shop. As a result, our green tea products have gained recognition from customers within and beyond the province.”
Thanks to the implementation of comprehensive support measures, e-commerce has increasingly become an integral part of daily life, making a positive contribution to the province’s overall socio-economic development. E-commerce offers significant advantages, such as providing businesses and cooperatives with extensive market and partner insights, reducing marketing and transaction costs, shortening business cycles, and fostering stronger customer relationships. Additionally, it creates opportunities to scale up production, boost domestic consumption, and facilitate exports.
Moving forward, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to align with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s directives to develop an e-commerce strategy tailored to local conditions. The department plans to strengthen e-commerce collaborations with provinces and cities that have signed socio-economic cooperation agreements with Phu Tho. Furthermore, efforts will be intensified to disseminate government policies on e-commerce, encouraging widespread participation from businesses and the public.
