In recent times, women in the Fatherland have played a vital role in economic development, actively engaging in production and business activities. Many women-led enterprises, cooperatives, and economic models have created jobs for local workers, helping female members secure stable employment and improve their livelihoods.
Born and raised in Xuan Loc Commune, Thanh Thuy District, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of Maika Food Co., Ltd., has a deep passion for tea plants. She has been contributing to bringing agricultural products from the Song Da region to consumers across the country.
In 2001, after graduating from the Biology Department of Phu Tho Education College (now Hung Vuong University), she returned to teach near her hometown. Seeing the potential of tea cultivation in her area, she realized that traditional tea production methods yielded low economic efficiency and had an unstable market. This concern motivated her to find ways to establish production and consumption linkages, helping local farmers increase their income from tea.
At the end of 2019, Ms. Huong officially registered the establishment of Maika Food Co., Ltd. and introduced its first product—100% natural, eco-friendly matcha green tea powder—after a period of self-research and learning from various sources.

Ms. Huong shared: "At first, I only produced on a small scale, gradually expanding and integrating modern technology into production. Starting with matcha tea products, which were popular among young people, I continued researching and introducing new products to the market, such as dinh lang tea, freeze-dried fruits like jackfruit and banana. These fruits are grown in Thanh Thuy and some neighboring areas. Many of our company’s product lines have achieved the 4-star OCOP certification."
Recognizing that supporting women in economic development is a key mission, in recent years, the Women’s Union at various levels in the province has implemented diverse activities and innovative programs. These include training courses and workshops that help women improve their knowledge of entrepreneurship, agricultural technology transfer, e-commerce, livelihood models, and access to credit policies. These training sessions have attracted over 2,000 women, business owners, cooperatives, and economic groups across the province.

The Provincial Women’s Union has also collaborated to organize training sessions on “The Role of Women in Cooperative Management in Connection with Implementing Project 01” for nearly 400 officials and members in Viet Tri City, Lam Thao, and Phu Ninh Districts. Additionally, a capacity-building course on supporting the collective economy and cooperatives was conducted for 110 participants, including commune-level Women’s Union staff and leaders, as well as members of cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women.
Notably, in 2024, the Union supported the establishment of three new cooperatives: “Binh Phu Garment and Packaging,” “Gia Thanh Seedless Persimmon,” and "Tan Duc Glutinous Rice Fermented Soy Sauce." It also facilitated the creation of 13 cooperative groups and 17 economic development linkage groups, bringing the total to 16 cooperatives, 73 cooperative groups, and 258 women’s economic linkage groups.
