Over the past five years, Phu Tho has navigated through a period filled with both challenges and milestones.
Although thepandemic once shook the entire economy, the province managed to maintain an average annual growth rate of 7.5%, higher than the national average. The economy has expanded rapidly, with the GRDP in 2025 projected to reach 390 trillion VND—1.5 times higher than in 2020. Total budget revenue for the 2020–2025 term is estimated at 245 trillion VND, with around 52 trillion VND expected in 2025 alone. These figures affirm that Phu Tho has successfully built new momentum and strength for its development.

Within this broader picture, industry continues to assert its leading role. An annual growth rate of over 10% is not merely an upward line on a chart—it reflects the vibrant operation of industrial zones illuminated at night, and the continuous expansion of electronics, mechanical, and textile factories. Meanwhile, services, trade, and tourism are emerging as new economic drivers. In 2025, the province is expected to welcome more than 14.5 million visitors, earning nearly 15 trillion VND in revenue—2.9 times higher in visitor numbers and 3.2 times higher in earnings compared to 2020. Export value has also surged, estimated at 36.8 billion USD in 2025, 2.2 times greater than at the start of the term.
Accompanying this transformation are telling statistics: the poverty rate has fallen to 2.75%; in ethnic minority areas alone, poor households have decreased by an average of 1.4% per year, while income levels have risen 1.8 times compared to 2020. Each year, 58,000 new jobs are created. Over 94.8% of commune health stations now have doctors, and more than 84% of schools meet national standards. The province’s cultural and heritage values have also been strongly revitalized—not only with Xoan singing recognized as part of humanity’s intangible heritage and the Hung Temple Festival drawing millions of pilgrims, but also with Tam Dao being designated as a National Tourist Area and honored as one of the “World’s Leading Tourist Towns.”

Mai Chau Hideaway (Tan Mai) – a lakeside resort space on Hoa Binh Lake, exemplifying Phu Tho’s tourism and service development strategy to position the province as an appealing destination on both national and international maps.
If the 2020–2025 period can be seen as the province’s preparation and momentum phase, then the 2025–2030 term will mark a bold leap forward—propelling the Ancestral Land into a new era. The merger of the three provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh has expanded development space, strengthened regional connectivity with the Capital Region and major economic corridors, and opened up tremendous opportunities for Phu Tho to rise.
Building on this foundation, the Provincial Party Congress has set forth ambitious goals: by 2030, Phu Tho aims to become one of the key growth poles of the Capital Region—a center for industry, trade, logistics, tourism, healthcare, high-quality education, and major national cultural festivals rooted in the nation’s origin. Looking further ahead, by 2045, the province strives to become a centrally governed city—an advanced, prosperous society where people enjoy a high quality of life and genuine happiness.
