Strengthening Cooperation to Develop High Economic Value Agricultural Products

On the afternoon of September 23, Comrade Pham Dai Duong — Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary, and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies — chaired a cooperation meeting with the Agricultural Genetics Institute of Vietnam on developing high economic value agricultural products for the 2026–2035 period.

Attending the conference were Comrades: Tran Duy Dong — Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Dinh Cong Su — Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of the Agricultural Genetics Institute of Vietnam, alongside leaders of several provincial departments, sectors, and localities.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and exchanged views on a cooperation program to develop science- and technology-applied agriculture aligned with the province’s potential and advantages, creating products with high economic value.

Opinions suggested continuing to research, select, and breed crop varieties and livestock suitable for the province’s climate, soil conditions, and crop/livestock structure to build and replicate effective production models.

In particular, the focus will be on developing key crops and livestock such as tea, bananas, pomelos, and other advantageous products along a closed-loop chain—from cultivation and production to deep processing, targeting export markets.

At the same time, efforts will be made to accelerate the application of science and technology in large-scale agricultural production, cultivation, and processing; establish commercial agricultural production zones; and create signature branded products unique to Phu Tho.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong emphasized that Phu Tho identifies agriculture as a crucial sector that contributes both to ensuring food security and driving the province’s economic growth.

Therefore, applying science and technology and selecting suitable crop and livestock varieties hold significant importance in improving yield, quality, and product value.

Based on the discussions at the meeting, the Provincial Party Secretary assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to research and introduce new varieties suitable for the province’s climate and soil conditions. From there, the department is to draft a development plan for key crops and livestock, applying technology to farming, production, harvesting, and processing with the goal of enhancing economic efficiency and laying a foundation to scale up effective models.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology and other relevant departments and agencies to finalize specific details of the cooperation program with the Agricultural Genetics Institute of Vietnam on developing high economic value agricultural products for the 2026–2035 period, submitting it to the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Committee for consideration and decision.
