Following administrative mergers, Thanh Thuy Commune stands before a major opportunity to break through and assert its role as the heart of the province’s key tourism region. With advantages in geographical location, natural resources, and an increasingly synchronized infrastructure, the locality is focusing on effectively exploiting its potential to make tourism a spearhead economic sector, driving sustainable socio-economic development.

Thanh Thuy is blessed by nature with rare hot mineral water sources, rich in minerals and highly valued for healthcare. This unique advantage, possessed by few other localities in the province, forms a vital foundation for developing resort, eco-tourism, and therapeutic tourism. Located at the southwestern gateway of the province, the commune enjoys convenient connectivity to Hanoi and the Northwestern provinces via an inter-regional transport system. After merging four administrative units, Thanh Thuy now spans over 31 km2 with a population of more than 26,000, expanding its development space for synchronized planning of large-scale tourist areas.
In recent years, Thanh Thuy’s tourism has seen significant growth. In 2025, the commune welcomed approximately 900,000 visitors, with tourism and service revenue reaching 670 billion VND. The trade and service sector accounts for 42% of the economic structure, confirming a positive shift toward a service-based economy. The accommodation and resort system has received heavy investment, with several facilities meeting 3 to 5-star standards, such as Dao Ngoc Xanh (Green Pearl Island), Lynn Times Thanh Thuy, Bamboo Resort, and Tre Nguon Resort. Currently, there are 5 approved tourism projects under implementation, 24 accommodation establishments with a total of 3,663 rooms, and various supermarkets and shopping centers catering to tourists.
Tre Nguon Hot Spring Resort is one of the pioneers in the local tourism industry. After 15 years of operation, it has solidified its position in the Northern resort market. Mr. Tran Duc Hung, Deputy Director of the resort, shared: "We have invested in 60 standard rooms and 5 community rooms, along with diverse services including indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzis, and physical therapy massage. Our restaurant can serve 300-400 guests simultaneously, meeting the needs for events and large groups. In 2025, we welcomed about 4,000 overnight stays, with 60% coming from Hanoi."
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuấn, Vice Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, stated that the Commune Party Committee has issued a specialized resolution for tourism development for the 2025–2030 period. The goal is to turn tourism into a spearhead sector and build Thanh Thuy into a primary tourism hub. Key orientations include finalizing the master plan, investing in transport infrastructure and landscapes, developing signature products associated with hot springs and culture, and promoting digital transformation in tourism marketing.
By 2030, Thanh Thuy aims to welcome 1.5 million visitors annually, with revenue reaching approximately 1,000 billion VND. The locality will focus on “green – clean – beautiful – friendly” destinations, promoting activities like walking streets, street music, community-based tourism, and OCOP products. Notably, linking tours with other provincial sites like the Hung Kings Temple is opening new directions to extend visitor stays and increase spending.
With its inherent advantages and clear development strategy, Thanh Thuy is gradually establishing itself as an attractive resort destination in the North. It is poised to become not just a “weekend getaway” but a prestigious center for wellness and healthcare tourism, contributing to the sustainable prosperity of the locality.
